Question re Gridding with fishing line

I do tend to wash my pieces, especially since I mostly work in hand and wrinkle them quite a lot.

Then the pens would probably be easier. I dislike washing my pieces if I can help it, so the fishing line is, to me, a better choice. But you do have to stitch around the line sometimes which can get annoying. I really like gridding using the marking pen, but try to avoid it since it guarantees that I'll have to wash it once I'm done.
