Tent stitch
So I've done a search on tent stitching and wasn't able to find what I was looking for. I know many tent stitch their projects because they go by faster. A friend of mine asked me a few nights ago to stitch something up for his daughters birthday (which was in 11 days) but I told him there was no way I'll get even a small kit finished in that time (unless I didn't sleep, eat, shower or work) but I told him I had something pretty much kitted up that I could possibly finish by Christmas. It's the mini vanity. Not sure who designed it right now, but I was kitting it up for my ding dong of a roommate, but most know what happened there. The fabric that was bought for the project is a 14 ct. Is it possible to tent stitch on 14 ct without it looking horrible? I know I'll need to buy more thread. Opinions welcomed.
An Angel in the book of life wrote down my baby's birth. And whispered as she closed the book "too beautiful for earth."

Re: Tent stitch
I don't bother tent stitching when using aida
From the front, tent looks the same as a regular half stitch
Its only on the back that it looks different
And the only reason I tent stitch on evenweave is to prevent the stitching thread from slipping under the weave of the fabric threads- that won't happen with aida

Re: Tent stitch
You could still do the regular half stitch on 14 count you will probably just need to use more strands, 3 or 4 to help fill out the larger stitches. I'd recommend using a laying tool to helps keep your strands laying flat.

Re: Tent stitch
I've only ever tented on linen, but it would work with Aida as long as you used more threads like Juliebean said

Re: Tent stitch
I would give it a go with some test stitches - but you may find that you need quite a few strands to get any decent coverage, depending on your preferences of course. The largest count that I have ever seen anyone tent on is 20ct and that was with three strands.
