Looking for something fishy.. beachy.. watery

Post by MaggieM1750 »

Hi all
I am just beginning the search for a new chart. And in saying that, its not anything I am in NEED of now, but I always plan way ahead for my next thing

My cousin will soon be moving into a new house. This is first house with Hubby #2. They have been living in her house while they gutted and completely renovated the inside of his house. Well, the work is done and they move in over the weekend. New house is on a lake and its beautiful. She has asked that I stitch something for the new house. She gave me a deadline of "some time in the next 10 years..." I think I can work with that.

I am thinking maybe something with fish, or beach towels and swimsuits. But not woodsy/ cabiny with a black bear or moose. And also not costal/ ocean. I'm not thinking I want to do a "welcome" (but not ruling it out if I find the right one) and certainly not a "Bless this house" type of sentiment.

Problem is.. I don't even know where to start looking. I flipped through Lizzie Kate and 123Stitch but didn't see anything I liked. I had originally thought this might go on a wall in her kitchen, but she said maybe on the porch (which has 2 walls of windows looking out onto the lake)

Anyone have other designers I should look for, or other site recommendations?

Maggie, I did a fisherman themed afghan for my husband years ago, long before I went on line to get charts. The books I used (and if you want I will be glad to send them to you since I am never going to use them again and maybe you can find them to look at on line) :
At River's Edge designs by Nanci(Preston Wisneswkey)
Gone Fishing designed by Diane Arthurs and published by Imaginating
Fly Fishing from the John Clayton Collection published by Heritage Stitchcraft
Lets Go Fishing by Pegasus Originals, Inc
Gone Fishing by Cross My Heart, Inc
Fisherman's Dream by StitchWorld X-Stitch
Largemouth Bass by A & L Designs (from their Gamefish Series).

I have no idea if these are still around, but maybe some of the out of the way (at least they were to me) designers that I had on my Bingo may have some different kinds of fishing designs. I didn't look for them, but some had some really different cat charts.
pm me with your address if you want all or any of these. Not a problem to send them.

I have these 3 patterns from magazines. I will never stitch them so would be happy to pass them to you if they would be of use to you.

This first is a nice one for a country design.

This cabin would also be a nice one I know it is a cabin but it is on a coastal setting.

Finally a fish design.

I have this picture. I had the picture and Donna create the chart for me. I am not sure but I do not think I would breaking the copyright laws. I paid for the service to have the picture made to a chart. I would be more than happy to share with you.

Thank you ladies for your quick replies!

Reta.. from your link, I found another link, and somehow ended up on The Cricket Collection site. (Its so easy to click here, click there.. and who knows how you get there!) I've never seen this designer before.

I'll show these to my cousin and see what she thinks.
Its hard to read this one but it says "Heres is the promise of summers to be"
http://www.cecricket.com/catalog_pics8/264big.jpg" target="_blank

Or this vintage swimsuit one from their home page
http://www.cecricket.com/cricket_whats_new.htm" target="_blank

Its a good start- thanks ladies.
Its been a while since I have been to their house. The last I saw, the drywall had just been put up. And they were picking paint colors and flooring. They have ordered a lot of new furniture. So I think I am going to wait and get a vibe for her new decor. And who knows- maybe she will change her mind and not want fish at all. Thank you Thank you

While I was looking for the pattterns that I have already posted I also found a few ships that have a nice nautical feel to them and also a couple of light houses. If you would like a look at these for consideration let me know and I will find them once again and post them for you.

Thanks Rose- I'll keep that in mind once I have a better hold on what type of design she wants.

Maggie

I'm currently working on "Here is the promise of summers to be" its very lovely.

I have a chart I stitched a while ago - its in my gallery. Its a cute simplistic design with a cabin, loons, fish. I can look in my folders to see what the design was, if you are interested in it. Let me know. Good Luck !

If you were talking about the post of mine it was an old Cross Stitch Crazy magazine. I can send it to you if you still have an interest. Just pm me and the chart is yours.

Thanks Karen- I just saw it in the Nordic Needle newsletter
Reminds me of the tall grasses that grow at the edge of the water

Its been a while since I have really looked for a pattern. Its been fun window shopping. I am trying to limit what I show her- I don't want to overwhelm her with chart after chart.
