Threadcutters???

Post by destructiveernie »

I usually use little snips but was wondering about this:

Does anyone use them?

That is what I use when I am traveling , ie on a plane. But at home I just stick with my regular scissors.

I'm just thinking that if they fall into little hands they won't do any damage, will they?

Left my snips out by accident but thankfully I found them first!!!!

The only way they can do any damage really is if you unscrew them and take them to pieces

Thanks Angel.

I want to try and get the little one used to my stitchy stuff and to me stitching now and again.

And of course if I get these a few other bits and pieces might just fall into the shopping basket!!!!

I have often wondered how they are myself. Putting then on a cord would solve the problem of constantly looking for my scissors, then sitting on them when I loose them. As Rose said, great on airplanes.

I got something similar but much simpler that that which is a combination threader and thread cutter for taking on the airplane. Not nearly as sturdy as the pendent, but cut thread really well and I don't think that it would be possible to hurt yourself, even if you were a 2 yr old getting into everything you shouldn't. I got them at my LNS and I'm not even sure of the name, but you might want something sturdier than they are for everyday use.

Love these for travelling and I think they would be great if you have little ones as well...I only use for travelling as I was one of the unfortuneate ones who had my scissors confiscated at the airport...my own fault...I didnt realize it was in the bottom of my bag of cross stitch.

I find they take a bit of getting used to but are great. I used them a lot when Erin was tiny, also hubby has never tried to cut his hair with them

I love mine. I keep it and a needle threader on a cord around my neck when I stitch. It can't fall down the side of the chair or on the floor because it is tied to me with a red string! It cuts fine, even when I'm cutting all six strands at once. It also cuts nice and close when I'm finishing a thread.

I've got one of these...

Mine's one from the top of the page. I wanted the Clover version but the shop didn't have any left! :(

If you want a nice safe one ...go for the Clover. Mine's fine for me with no tiny fingers about!

They are the ones you stick on the fridge to cut the milk bags with. A brilliant use for them Wendy :applesauce:
