Okay, I have understood now that the aida has different sizes, measured in holes per inch. I think that the kit I have is too small for me. I am not sure what size it is, but probably 14. Is that the most common size?
Is it possible for me to buy a piece of aida with bigger amounts between the holes, and use the pattern and threads from the kit?
Also, can anyone tip me where to buy larger aida kits in uk or europe, with a design that is not intended for kids?

Yes but you would possibly run out of silk as to get a good coverage on 11 count you would need 3 strand and the kit you have has been calculated to use two
Have you measured an inch on the fabric you have to check if its 14 count

Re: Aida size and kits
Correct. 14 ct aida is 14 holes to the inch. And you can stitch just about any chart onto any type or count fabric. Just pay attention to your math.
14 seems to be standard count for kits. To check what fabric you have- grab a ruler and count. You may have 16 or 18. Its not common- but its possible.
If 14 doesn't work for you, there is also 11 ct aida available- but your image size will be larger so you will use more thread. And you may want to switch from stitching with 2 strands to 3 or 4 to get better coverage. But often a company will send you more thread if you ask.
To figure out what your image size will be, just divide your stitch count by your fabric count. Then add 6-8 extra inches to allow for finishing and framing. That will tell you what size your fabric needs to be.
Or, enter that information into THIS stitch calculator- it will do all the math for you.

You know.. what Reta said
Re: Aida size and kits
Measuring it? Good point
It seems to be 18 holes per inch.
I will try and search some more for 11 count kits, couldnt find anything the last time. Thanks for your help!

Re: Aida size and kits
If you have a shop near to you, take your piece of 18count with you to compare it to the 14 and eleven count fabric in the shop, that may help in your decision on size.

Re: Aida size and kits
Thanks for your reply all. I found my kit online and there it says its 16 count, not 18.
Anyway I have now ordered another kit, which is 10 count, should be easier. I also continued on my current 16 count kit now and it seems like I am starting to get the hang of it.
