3/4 stitch

Post by claire81 »

In my new project I have some 3/4 stitch to do, I understand it is made with a complete diagonal and a half a diagonal stitch. What I want to know is once I have done the 3/4 stitch when it comes to do the other half of it do I need to do another complete diagonal stitch or is it just a half a stitch the other side, I hope I haven't totally confused you thanks in advance :)

I can't really see a solution on there thanks though. I know how the 3/4 stitch works on the one side but not the other side especially if the other half is a different colour

I had another look and it does make sense now I just use a quarter stitch for the other side. Thanks for that

Small tip: I read somewhere to use the 3/4 stitch for the part of the design that's in the foreground and the 1/4 stitch for the part that's in the background. (Sorry if you already knew that!).

I've done it both ways depending on what looks best in the pattern :thinks:

Me too - when it's simply creating a smoother line within the main subject matter, I'll often do two 3/4 stitches rather than a 3/4 and a 1/4 as I think it looks unbalanced otherwise. If there's a clear foreground and background though I'll then do the proper 3/4 and 1/4 stitch.
