WELCOME Don't feed the dragons *DONE*

Post by mauveme »

This is a whole afternoon of stitching. one lousy letter. And it has black metalic #4braid in there too, and you can't see it. And not just in the picture. And I don't like the coverage either, Think I will do the rest of the letters in solid black...Oh and the chart is "lets guess the stitch". 1/4? 3/4? a whole? or none? the backstitching lines hide it in some places.I'm just going to wing it  Also, there are black dots around the faces, I am assuming they are french knots for the eyes! Well here it is, Don't you just love those Gothic old english letters

I know what you mean sometimes I look at what I've done after an afternoons work and it seems like I've achieved very little and it sounds as though you've had alot of guesswork to contend with too!
But your letter looks amazing :stars: you've done a fantastic job :applesauce:

You are so very patient to work with different threads in black like that. :applesauce:

Your stitching is gorgeous and so neat.

It's a very lovely letter at least. :x: that you find the rest of the pattern easier to work with.

How frustrating about the coverage, I hope solid black will work better. Maybe having just a little metallic in the first letter will work if you leave it as is and make the rest just black?

That's what I was thinking too. But, I will have a closer look in the morning to see just how much the metalic shows up. I put it down for a bit and got more done a little later on, That went faster, I think it's just adjusting to the evenweave again after so much aida.

:applesauce: The letter is beautiful. I hope that it does look better to you in the morning. I'm glad it got easier the more you stitched. I am looking forward to seeing your progress.

This is beautiful -- and quite a lot of work, from the sounds of it, for an afternoon. Gives "black lettering" a new lease of life. :applesauce:

It is a lovely letter even if it created a bit of a frustrating afternoon for you. Hope you find a happy solution for the rest of the pattern.

I am going to go ahead with the black metalic, It gives the letter a bit of dimension, doing more will make it more obvious.
I now have a little itty bitty green dragon(she has lovely gold horns too), big blue mom will be right behind her.
This is going fun..(but I do hope I can get it done for Christmas)

Two lettters and two dragons (nearly). Solved the annoying whole sttch that is not quite a 3/4. I changed it to a modified skinny stitch. one leg is normal, over two, and the other let is partial. Depending on where the b/s crosses the stitch. Worked out well on the "E", not little bits peeking out of the b/s.

:applesauce: I think you are doing a great job, Linda. No little bits that I can see. The letters are lovely and the dragons are beautiful.
