You all must have gotten a different fray check then what I did. I hated the stuff. I threw the bottle out after using it only twice. I used it just as the directions said. It stuck to everything and was very hard to clean up after it started to dry(off the table). I left it over night to dry and even the next day it felt tacky. When I was stitching the glue picked up lots of dirt and that did not make me happy. I was very disappointed in the results. I bout it at Micheals and it said Fray Check on the bottle. I can't remember if it was a brand name but I think it said Aleen.

I zigzag my fabric. This was just something I had heard was a good alternative and as my sewing machine had died I though oh what the heck I will try it. Well that didn't work so that Christmas my hubby bought me the machine I wanted and now I am back to my zigzag.

Well I grew up with a sewing machine. Mom made most of our clothes until we got into High School then we had to buy our own or make them. I have always hated sewing clothes but I do enjoy quilting. But very limited.

I have one gathering dust in the loft
I don't really know how to use it and my friend set it up for me once, a while back now, and I got all in a tangle, so it's back in the loft ... gathering dust.

Great work C_F!

My Mum used to make me clothes -- still does occasionally when I find some particularly pretty fabric in the market :-) -- but I never learnt to use a sewing machine.

As for the edges of my projects, most of them are so small it's not worth doing anything to the edges because they're finished so quickly, and that got me into the rather lazy habit of not doing anything to my edges ever, even when I'm doing larger projects like the kingfisher or a Flower Fairy and some Precious Moments children I did some years ago. They're always fine, but perhaps I've just been lucky so far :-)

I don't use fray check on the edges of my stitching, I hand sew over the edges all the way round my fabric, I usually do this before I am ready to start the project, often late at night when I am too tired to cross stitch, takes no time at all :D

Meant to say, I don't do anything with mine ...well apart from pulling off the frayed bits when they get too annoying.

So far I haven't had anything fray too badly on me.
