Oh wow, the Februarys are absolutely gorgeous, and the latest Januarys are lovely too
I've downloaded Feb today but haven't printed it yet. If I do, I know I'll want to stitch it straight away, and I really must finish the latest Papillon first.
Lovely February, cristaltipps! Great to see several of you try the coloured dove's eyes too -- isn't the February gallery going to look gorgeously colourful!
These are absolutely gorgeous! I am so tempted to join in but too frightened. I want to make such beautiful things but I don't think I could pull it off.

NinjaBetty please don't be frightened and give it a go. The cost of the SAL is next to nothing, you may need to buy a bit more stash (no problem there ) but Mabel's instructions on the chartpack and on her blog are so clear and easy to understand. Just imagine how brilliant the feeling will be when you can say 'I did that!'. Go for it - you only live once
I second what Jo said NinjaBetty. I put off trying hardanger for over a year because I got so freaked out when I first tried, but this is a good way to learn. My first one is far far far far from perfect. My spacing is wrong and I know I messed up on some stitches because they didn't meet right. But I am proud of the fact that I did it. I showed it off at my stitch in group tonight, and some of these ladies are really fine stitchers and I got a lot of encouragement for a first try. (Stitchers are such great people). I'm sure you will find nothing but encouragement and help here. My plan is to view these as "exercises of learning". My goal all along has been to do an afghan. Then who knows what.
So, if you want to please don't be afraid. If you don't want to know, after watching this for a while you may change your mind and try. (and you can do it with no one except Mabel knowing also cause if you don't tell, we won't know)

You guys are absolutely right. It's not like anyone else has to know that I am doing it unless I share it. I think I am going to give it a go since I will really regret not even trying. I have some spare small pieces of fabric around that I can practice on as well so there's no reason why I shouldn't give it a go except for my fear of failure. Of course I won't accomplish anything if I don't give it a shot. So I think I have talked myself into it, with the help of you lovelies as well of course lol. Thanks so much for the encouragement.

I too am new to hardanger as are quite a few others on here, so you are definitely not alone. I have to second the sentiments of Carole and Jo... you never know what you can achieve until you try and Mabels instructions are so good that I think even my hubby could attempt it! (That's no slight on male stitchers, my hubby just doesn't 'get' stitching but then again I don't 'get' his motorbike! )
I do hope you feel you can show us your work but if not, that's ok, just enjoy the process of learning something new...... tis good for the brain!

Well at last here is my finish for January. Sorry the picture is not too good. I thoroughly enjoyed it but it's not the neatest piece of stitching I've ever done but practice makes perfect.
I was worrying a bit about this because of the new stitches and cutting but Mabel's instructions are fab! I think my cutting could have been neater but I'll work on that. I used french knots instead of beads as I didn't have any suitable ones

Great work everyone.
Cecilia, your colors are perfectly "January". That Caron Snow is beautiful. (One day when I'm ready I will have to try other threads besides DMC Perles. Just to need to learn what the "equivalents" are)
carladee, your February is lovely. I hope my cuttings will be half as neat as yours.

If you are looking for some one to help change you, look in the mirror
Okay it's me again lol. I have one question simply because I have health issues and my brain doesn't quite wrap around things as well as I would like. Okay so on the materials list it says one dark colour and one light colour so let's say I wanted my first one to be pink and blue. Would I get one dark pink colour and one light blue colour or the other way around one dark blue and one light pink? Is that correct? I apologize if I appear to be dim. I just want to make sure I order the correct thread and that I'm not making a mistake.
