new to evenweave -help

Post by longtimexer »

i've always stitched on aida but want to try evenweave fabrics. i tried to search for tips and help but haven't had any luck. can anyone give me some basics or direct me to some tutorials, preferably videos. I know the stitches but i'm afraid i will lose control of the thread under the strands of the fabric. i tried once a long time ago and got frustrated. hoping a how to will help. thanks in advance.

Here's a video with a tutorial on stitching on evenweave, made by an editor from The World of Cross Stitching magazine.

First you have to decide if you'll be stitching over 1 thread or 2. Over 2 will give you stitch sizes similar to aida. Over 1 are half the size.

When I stitch over 2, I stitch just as I would on aida.
When I stitch over 1, I tent stitch for the bottom leg of my stitch.
Google it for tutorials. It's also called continental stitch.

And ask us if you have other questions or if the tutorials have you more confused than when you started.
