Fabric

Post by efhawks »

So I'm tired of boring old white aida and want something more fun. Where is everyone's favorite place to buy fabric? Considerations: have an online store, and American's based (or have decent shipping and handling). Thank you :)

PS: It is May 1st and snowing in Colorado :tantrum: Happy May Day!

I use 123 Stitch http://www.123stitch.com/links.html" target="_blank they are US based and very good with their service. I also us Needle in a Haystack http://www.needlestack.com/" target="_blank as they are just a few miles up the road. Helpful ladies and good service. Then I also have an LNS http://www.madonnaneedleworks.com/Products.asp" target="_blank not sure if she ships but possibly.

I like Nordic Needle. Nice range of products and very helpful staff. They're in North Dakota. I can't seem to get the link to work, but it's just NordicNeedle.com.

I love 123stitch as well as this site http://stephsfabbys.com/main.sc

Stephanie does beautiful work, and my only caution would be that it can take a couple of weeks for her to send out an order as she dyes to order--but it is so worth the wait

Its snowing here in MN as well. Well, that lovely mix of rain, ice and snow.
Usually around St. Patricks day is the last of our snow.. this is weird.. very very weird.. and I am so DONE with winter!

I also like Nordic Needle.. but know people in Fargo so they just pick my things up for me and I don't pay for shipping. While they do have non-white fabrics.. they don't have much for hand dyed. Its mostly solid colors, and most are pretty conservative.. your off whites, various tans, light pinks and blues, christmas red and green.. not much for bold, vibrant, fun fabrics.

I've recently started looking at the Silver Needle site.. based out of Tulsa. Haven't ordered from them yet- so have no clue what shipping rates are.

Happy Shopping

And I love Picture This Plus for gorgeous hand dyed fabrics. She also has a fabulous sale every mid July which is well worth waiting for. Again, there can sometimes be a wait of a week or two before it gets sent out but definitely worth the wait.

I will chime in and agree with those who posted about 123 Stitch - they have a great selection and reasonable prices, and they carry a number of hand-dyed fabric lines (like Picture This Plus) as well as the regular stuff. Stitching Bits & Bobs also has a great selection, but they are a little pricier, and a good deal slower in getting your stash out to you. Picture This Plus and Silkweaver are the two places I have tried for hand-dyed fabric, and they both have wonderful colors. Picture This Plus also has amazing customer service and are very friendly - I've emailed them asking advice about which color to use for different projects and they were very helpful.

Picture This Plus has been really terrific helping me find the right fabric. And the fabric is basted and the colours have never run on me either.

I'll add my 10 cents in for Picture This Plus and 123stitch. Great selections and fabulous customer service. I haven't tried Silkweaver yet, but their color range is amazing.

I agree. I love my LNS, but I don't think her selection is as wide.
