Just being nosey... What's the biggest project you've taken on? Mine are relatively small as I'm new to cross-stsitch and I don't want to run before I can walk!!

Re: Project size
The afghans that I have stitched if considered one project are certainly the biggest projects I have worked on as they are 54" x 60". The individual designs on each one vary tremendously. The largest chart I have worked on is probably Dragon Rider at 400 x 515 which is to be the center of an afghan. I am not sure what the dimensions of several of the Teresa Wentzler designs that I have done. For whatever reason, I try to stay between 500 x 500 for my large HAEDs and think I pretty much have. Not sure why, but when they get into the 600+ category it wears me out to think about stitching them. I think my second project was a Teresa Wentzler sampler. I love the big projects and always have. That may be why I love HAEDs so much.
IMHO the only difference is that there are more stitches and it takes longer. But then I probably was one of those kids that tried to walk before I had crawling down.

Re: Project size
My biggest one is the first HAED I started, Ciro Marchetti's "Bubble Telescope". It measures 21 x 28 inches stitched over 1 on 25 count, which totals something like 365,000 stitches.
Needless to say, it's only around 55% stitched and I've been working on it since Christmas Day 2008!

Re: Project size
Measurements depend on fabric - I'm working on an Afghan at the moment for Mabel's SOTW which is certainly the biggest I have in fabric terms, but not in stitches.
For stitches, my SQ is 105,336 stitches and my full-size HAED is 192,600 (oops wish I hadn't calculated that now!) Neither are anywhere near complete because I'm doing another fairly big project in my Rose window, which will be about 60,000.
Big cross stitch pieces just take a long time, so I tend to think it's usually good to get a few finishes under your belt before tackling a really BAP. That gives you an idea of time it takes and gives time to work out what you really love stitching as you have to love a BAP to do it. Otherwise, just dive in and join the rest of us HAED, SQ and GK cases

Re: Project size
First off welcome newbie to craft of cross stitching.
In the 30 yrs., this July, in stitching, 11" x 14" 's are the biggest so far.
The projects for this year are 9 In Loving Memory Remembrances. 11" x 14". Done 7 last year and will be doing 5 more next year, along with 4 other small projects.
I have in kits, 9 afghans for the family. This will be something totally new to me. Never done them. The 1st one is made up of 3 different charts for the grandson, he's a Pitts. Steelers fan. The other 8 are different designs that I know each member likes in their homes or lives.
After them, I have several future projects for me and some friends.
1 will be the Lord's Supper. I can't decide to put in 3 differ frames or do as a whole. I have the perfect place for it in my hobby room, so area isn't the problem.
As you are a beginner, you will start out small and with confidence expand your horizons to do bigger. I did Christmas ornaments when I 1st started, til I filled a 7 1/2' Christmas tree, which we still have and the ornaments will be WILLED to the 2 grand girls. Then I was LED to do Baby, Wedding, and In Loving Memory Remembrances.
I say LED, because HE's the one that puts the people AND the subject of the projects, in my head to do and the receivers, 30 yrs. ago.
Just relax and enjoy each project you do.. This is a hobby, not a job.
HAPPY STITCHING IN STITCHING LAND.

Re: Project size
size in inches of a project depends a lot on fabric count as something 10 by 10 on 14 count would be 5 by 5 on 28 count done over 1
My biggest completed project thus far has been approx 25,000 stitches on 18 count but i soon realised that is little more than a weekend project for some of the HAED stitchers on here
I have one HAED and i think i may have bitten off more than i can chew as mine is 965 stitches tall by 525 stitches wide a total of 506625 stitches or over half a million in easy terms, i have decided to not think about that and just to do it a page at a time for the enjoyment of stitching and if and when i get it finished that will be a big bonus.
Do post some pics of your work we love to see everything stitched here

Re: Project size
largest was 350 x 500 stitches on 14 ct aida. due to improper storage the piece was ruined and I am restarting it on 18 ct aida.

Re: Project size
My largest project started is a HAED 16"x12" on 25ct. I've not done much on it at all.
The largest project done is the JE Dreamcatcher 10"x14". But the entire fabric is not stitched like HAEDs.
A similar large piece is the autumn sampler, 8"x16", and it's nearly done.
I started on christmas ornaments, and little scenes 5"x7". I thought I was going big when I got to 8"x10"! -lol
Enjoy it all.
PS. I like to use 14ct aida...

Re: Project size

But that was not, by far, the hardest project I've done - it was just crosses and half crosses.
The hardest was probably one of my creative tapestries or my hardanger coasters.
Myst..
