Lovely card Tiffany and April is so different in those colours.
Thank you for the tips Lessa, I'm going to wait until I have more confidence before tackling the afghan. I did Mabels Home Sweet Home on Cork 19ct linen which has a very "loose" weave and know what you mean about the cut ends.
Beautiful work, everyone!! I hadn't seen May yet and now am even more eager to start it. My mom is in town for a visit so I haven't been on the forums much, and I haven't done much stitching either, but I'll try getting started on May this week!
EDIT: I checked my e-mail for this month's password but it seems I haven't received this month's e-mail, Mabel. Could you re-send it, please?

So I've been doing my May, and have realised that I've made a boo boo.....I've used a #5 instead of #8 for my wrapped bars and snowflakes.....
Does it matter? I've not got a #8 in a matching colour, other than white. I do have a #12 in a matching colour. I can do the remaining wrapped bars in white #8 and the fans in white #8. Or finish the wrapped bars in #5 and do the fans in #8. Sigh.....
Eta darn the first pic isn't coming up, either just go to my photobucket or the other one can show you.

It's difficult to get the snowflakes right in a thick thread because there are so many stitches on top of each other. You could try them in #12, single thread -- they'd just look a bit lacier. I'm not sure if a double thread would work, I think you'd lose the definition
The bars look surprisingly good in #5 actually -- a bit chunky but the texture is really clear and stands out. I'd be tempted to do the rest in #5 as well, and then the fans either in #8 or in #12 for really big contrast.
Good luck!
Niki, I love your color choices and I love the Kloster blocks in that light variegated color. I've done a lot of stitches with variegated threads (I have to do more non HAEDs at some point because I love variegated thread) but hadn't done the blocks yet. A great reason to go back and do them again, which I was going to do before I attempted the afghan.)
I also like the texture of using the 5's on the bars. I think Mabel's suggestion is worth a try and certainly sounds like it will be lovely. Looking forward to seeing what you decide on.

Finished I re did the snowflakes with #12, and finished the bars in #5 and then did the fans in #8 white. I like it as its so like the blossom in my garden now.
And here are the last 4 which I have backed with purple or green linen so I can hang them in a pile to make a calendar I can turn to the right month every month. They do currently look like coasters though!!!
Thanks so much for the help, it's great to have a near instant advice line!
