Jobelan vs Lugana vs Brittany

Post by Allyn »

I posed this question in another post, but I think it got lost in the thread. . .so here ya go. :)

Back in the day, I'd only see Lugana in 25ct. Since I always used to stitch on 32ct, I never paid much attention to it. It comes in 28ct now and I'm doing more on 28ct than I am on 32ct nowadays. What difference will I see if I use Lugana instead of Jobelan? Also, I was told years ago that Brittany was really just a 28ct version of Lugana, so now I'm wondering what's the difference between 28ct Lugana and 28ct Brittany?

28ct Brittney and 28ct Lugana are exactly the same fabric - 52% cotton and 48% rayon, in the UK we only get 25ct Lugana and the 28ct version is called Brittney. Jobelan (51% cotton and 49% modal) is a gorgeous fabric, but is thicker than Lugana/Brittney and has a slight sheen to it and a lovely drape. I use both 28ct Brittney and Jobelan for a lot of my stitching (over 1 and over 2), but everyone has their own personal favourites - so it is always best to try them out for yourself.

Good info, thank you. Jobelan is thick; but back in the day, I didn't have as many choices for 32ct as there are nowadays. I'm a creature of habit so I just kept buying Jobelan when I starting trending toward 28ct. I'll try some Lugana.

Thanks. :)
