This is a piece I started about 2 years ago and after a few weeks put down until sometime last month. In the past few weeks I've added the tree, cat, bat, completed the roof, grass and gravestones minus the detail work.
I've already started adding in detail work to the bottom of the tree and completely finished the cat. I still have to finish the top part of the tree, add the witch (you can see her arm now), an owl perched on the branch and an ENORMOUS moon that glows in that dark!
Hopefully it's done for Halloween!!!

Also, if anyone has any suggestions, I feel like the cats whiskers are a bit disjointed. I've tried super hard to make sure that I don't pull the thread too hard so that my backstitching doesn't have gaps but I can't get it to work

What a great scene for Halloween. I think the cat looks perfectly fine. I have stitched a lot of cat's whiskers and as long as it looks good from a reasonable distance I don't worry about it. It's never a good idea, IMHO, to look too closely at your stitching when trying to see how the whole piece looks because that is not how others will see it once you frame it or however you plan to finish it.
I'm looking forward to your next update on this one!

Great stitching and the cat looks really great. Looking too closely at our stitching often shows up what we think are 'not right' bits but from a distance the cat is great.

LadyS wrote:Lovely project! I really like the fabric you're using. I think the cat whiskers are fine as they are!
Thank you Lady S!!! I usually try and use the exact fabric that the pattern suggest, but with this one I didn't and I've kind of been regretting it. The pattern used either "dusk" or "haunted" from PTP but I got something from my local store instead and I've been feeling like it is too blue and that the house gets lost. Maybe now that I know others like it i'll learn to start loving it myself...I am way too far along to change now!
Thank you everyone for the compliments! The pattern is from the 2011 Halloween edition of JCS.

The whiskers look fine to me! And I'm sure you house will pop out more against the background once you've added the backstitching. Can't wait to see more updates!
