Needle needs frames and stands

Post by xstitchsoprano »

Those of you in the US, how long did it take to receive your items from Needle Needs after you ordered? I'm considering investing in a Millenium Frame and/or a Necessaire Stand though I've heard the wait can be quite long! Thanks!

I ordered mine on April 4th and received it last Thursday. It is beautiful though and I think it will be worth the wait once I get a chance to use it... :)

I havent even been able to order one (although I want the stand as well as the frame and they arent made yet) I have been desparately stalking their site and calling to find out when they will be ready...

I am on the pre-order list but its killing me waiting for it since I have wanted it since I saw it, unfortunately that was me and everybody else it seems

so I'm just not so patiently waiting for them to complete making them so I can finally order one!!!! :tantrum:

Mine was ordered April 2nd, and got here in the first week of June, so just about 2 months. It was an agonizing wait, but completely worth it!

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I'm curious about this frame.
Does anybody have one of these?
They're local out of Oklahoma.

I ordered a stand and 36 inch frame in Dec 2012 and got them in Feb ...a long wait but SO worth it...they're beautifully crafted and have made stitching much easier. It's worth emailing or phoning Needleneeds to preorder the frame as they're a small family business and have been inundated with orders since Mary Corbet's rave review.. rather then wait for the 'Awaiting Stock' message to update!

Which one did you get Rusty? Those are the only stands that I've seen that could tempt me to get a stand (I love wood crafted things). Am so tempted by the Ergo, but need to do some serious saving first!

Lessa, I bought the Necessaire floor stand and absolutely love it... it's sturdy (doesn't wobble even with the heavy 36 inch frame), beautifully made, easy to assemble and still fairly portable.. I frequently carry it up and downstairs. I'd definitely recommend it.. the only downside is the price :(

I have been eyeing them also and hope to order one in September. I just have one question about the stand. I stitch in my recliner and would prefer to have the stand to the side, as opposed to in front of me. Is this even possible with this stand? Can you use the Millenium frame with a Lowery Stand?

I just hate the thought of spending such a large chunk of change and getting something that I can't use.

I use my Lowery stand to hold my Millennium frame, and it holds it securely. The frame is fantastic; beautiful workmanship and perfect for keeping a good tension on the fabric.
Here is mine in action!

How do you get onto the pre-order list? I ordered a stand from Edmunds, and haven't even received it yet, but I've decided to return it and order the Necessaire instead! Also going to invest in a Millenium frame. I'm about to embark on a very large project and I think my back and neck will be very thankful for this purchase! haha

All you need to do is go on their website and purchase what you want there. They will make it and send it once it's done... I think I'm going to try mine out tonight! :)

Just a quick aside for anyone who is interested in the frames/stands from Needle Needs. If you are a little daunted/put off by the price, you can pay by instalments that suit you. Just email them to set something up. I am currently paying for a stand this way. Once you have come to an agreement just email them to remind them to send an invoice each week/month. I hope this info helps some of you :D

I've been on the hunt for about a year for a new floor stand and this one really interests me. How well do the legs fit under a couch? If you had the choice, money-wise, would you go for just the floor stand, kit 1, or kit 2? I have 3 American Dream lap stands and love them, but would still like to replace my old floor stand (it doesn't stay in place anymore).

One problem I have is that I'm short. I know, that shouldn't make a difference but it does in many areas of life. Just shy of being 5'.

whoop whoop my 36 inch bars arrived today with 12 inch bars
so i now have 8 x10 side strechers , 8 ,12 , 20 , 27 , 36 inch bars
Mary Kay i to am short and i already had a lowery floorstand like
3madspaniels and i love it
it does hold the bars
but have to say i do love these frames i stitch now from the front and if i do 10 x 10 rows i don't get the lines as i did before as the tension is more even , even when i slacken off at night then re tighen the tension goes back to what it was and yes even at the very edges the fabric is taut
ok they are expensive but hopefully they will last for years and unlike the r and r frames i don't have to keep buying new clips every new project as they did go slack so i am saving there
just takes some getting used to a frame again but i am glad i got them now

Thanks for your reply, skitzzzzz. The only difference I can see between Kit 1 and Kit 2, besides the price, is the magnifier and light, which I don't need. I have a nice floor combo that works great for me. I've watched all the videos and have to say I love the way this is built. I'm pretty sure this is the floor stand and frame I'll end up buying, just not sure if it will be this year or next, but I love how it works and the tension it has looks terrific.

Can someone tell me - if you have 8-10 inch side bars do you need any other? Seems the stitching surface would be ample there? (especially if you have short arms like me?
