Thanks everyone! :D :D

As you can see, I've spent a fair time stitching this since I last updated! I've even done a bit of backstitch.
I had to frog several times - there are precious few hiding places in this piece! I had to frog most of the one feather I'd already started, because when I'd finished the outer rim of the small wheel, I found I'd miscounted the length of some of the feather stitches. :( Ah well...

Got some feather spines left to do, then the backstitch, then I'll start the feathers with no pink in 'em.

Backstitching completed.

Only have the feathers and the rest of the lettering to do.

I have almost made up my mind to run with that shouty pink. :( I have experimented with quite a few colours now, and none of them go well with either the blues, purples and lilacs, that are in many of the feathers, and the orangey wheels. The pink at least goes with the feathers, even if it clashes horribly with the wheels... ah well...
And anyway, I think the backstitching has toned down the orange/browns a bit, so maybe it'll be all right in the end. :)

I've got to frog the final S of dreams, though - just noticed an error!

:applesauce: :applesauce: This is so lovely. I agree with Faith that the back stitching adds depth and really sharpens the whole piece. Can't wait to see the feathers. I think the pink may blend in more than you would think. I am often surprised how good some colors actually end up looking when the whole project is complete.

Yes, backstitching is almost like a resurrection - it brings the dead to life! :)

We have feathers! :)

All top part now complete. I have to do the rest of the lettering, and the feathers in the bottom right corner.
Sorry the focus isn't great... :(
