I could never stitch in hand, my stitches would be terrible looking. I always used split rod scroll frames on a stand which I love using, but just recently bought the 11 inch and 17 inch q-snaps and am stitching with the 11 inch for the first time, I love it. The tension is great and I like the fabric guard to keep the excess fabric rolled up in so it doesn't get dirty.

I've only used hoops to do regular simple embroidery. I don't like the the circular marks it makes that are really hard to iron out so I've not tried them on cross stitching.

I just also bought The Doodler Plus and got the self basting velcro stuff, I've mounted a project onto it but have not actually stitched on it yet. I am having so much fun stitching the project in my q-snap, I haven't gone back to the project that's on the Doodler. It has the webbing that you can baste the project to also so if I don't like the velcro, I can always baste it.

I think stitching in hand works well for me, so buying a frame and stand would be like buying a wheel chair even though I can walk.
In Sweden we usually use hoop. Or stitch in hand. I wish we had more to choose from. :)

I'm very much a scroll frame person (although use spring hoops for small stuff) but I never got on with split frame scrolls ... threw mine away (didn't even think they were good enough to give away).

I stitch in hand. Couldn't get used to hoops or frames although everyone said I needed to use one. Since joining the forum I realised I can do what ever is comfortable for you
