Don't worry Sally, apart from the odd bar I try not to inflict repeats on you
What a stroke of luck that there's a Sale on, not you'll just have to get some special threads

First thing I did this morning was to check for July's design (after feeding kitties and then getting my first cup of coffee). It is beautiful. I might even break down and get some beads and try them. If not, it will be a good time to practice one of the other "fill" stitches that I need to perfect. Thank you again Mabel for creating such a beautiful design for us to stitch.

Wow, everyone's pieces look fantastic! You've all done a great job
I am a complete beginner, and just joined. Here is my January and February. They are not as neat and tidy, but hopefully I will get better as the months go on. And I will be stitching each month again sometime so that will be good practice on getting my stitches neater.
So here is January

And here is February

Great start ainjel! Lovely regular satin stitch and
for having a go at the coloured dove's eyes. Let me know if you're happy for me to mention some tips -- but likewise feel free to tell me that you would rather I didn't

You asked for it, ainjel
!
Just two things I noticed about February, actually -- I think January is a great first attempt, and there's really only that one rebel lazy daisy
.
In February, the thread attaching the beads is a bit more visible because I think (as far as I can tell from the picture) you went over three diagonals rather than two. Minor point as the thread is white-on-white anyway.
The dove's eyes: You've chosen the method whereby you pick up the central thread of the woven bar, which is a great method if you prefer not to have the "cross-hair look", but make sure that you pass the needle behind that thread towards you, and then loop over the thread as you carry on clockwise -- that way you get the four distinctive dove's eye loops.
When I say "towards you" (isn't it difficult to put stitching into words!?!) I mean this. Imagine you are working your dove's eye clockwise, as per the instructions. You have just finished the loop on the North side, and are travelling East. When you take your needle behind the central stitch of the East woven bar, make sure you do so South to North, cross over the working thread and travel on to the South bar.
Hope that makes sense

Re: Mabel's Song Of The Weather Part 2 April to ?? 2013
Mabel you have pointed out all the ones I thought I was not doing so well, so at least I'm "thinking" along the right lines. lol
Those daisy stitches I thought would be simple since I've embroidered them a million times but the counted ones proved me wrong. I frogged them 3 times before I got the current outcome...I definitely need practice on those.
The beads I did go over too many threads, but didn't see it until I had them all finished and compared to the picture of yours. I may go back and redo them because I do see what you mean.
And the doves eyes, I thought they didn't look quite right, but wasn't sure what I did wrong...I understand now.
Thank you for your tips, they are greatly appreciated! I always welcome them, it helps alot. I am just learning and certainly want to do it correctly.
