Hi! I thought it was about time I set up my own SAL after stalking all of yours for so long.
I am working on Stitching the Standard by Artecy.
I started this one last week, being tired of my other projects. Artecy had this up as a free pattern a while back and since I'm broke I was happy to find that I had almost all the colours I needed to start it. The unfortunate part was the fabric - the only fabric I had that was big enough was this unknown piece of 22ct fabric, which I haven't used since 2 over 1 is too thick for my liking and 1 over 1 doesn't cover enough. I decided to go with 1 over 1 either way and unless you look closely, the coverage is actually okay.
The sky is horrible to stitch - it uses the exact same colours as the sky in another project of mine, and it's not funny anymore.

Beautiful start! This is a lovely piece. I think someone else is also stitching this (but my brain is drawing a blank trying to remember). I think your coverage looks fine. I stitched my HAED SAL last year 1 over 1 on 22ct because I also thought the 2 over 1 was bulky and the coverage was fine too. I think it depends a lot on how tight you make your stitches. I'm so glad to see you posting this and am looking forward to your next update!

Thanks for all the comments! You are so encouraging. I'd like to post more around the forum but I suffer from social anxiety so it's a bit hard for me. I was brave to set up a thread! And I can't believe it's been over a month since I posted this. I did some more on the tower but I got a bit bored with it so I stitched a bookmark instead
I really like your bookmark Stitching the Standard is a lovely design, but I know exactly what you mean about being bored by the tower. The colors are so muted and pale they get kind of boring which is why I ended up succumbing to the siren songs of hardanger and HAED. taking a break from my SoS is the only thing that helps me keep going on it.

I love it! I'm a big fan of patterns that are of women stitching. For some reason they really appeal to me! Must be because one of the reasons I love needlework is the connection to the traditions of such skills over hundreds of years. I really like this one and would consider it if it wasn't for alllll that grey in the background which will have me quitting before I get too far into it!
What a beautiful bookmark and well done for sharing. Don't feel pressure to come on here but do realize that when you do feel strong enough we all love to see what beautiful work you are doing.
