It's so annoying when...

Post by Stephaniejane91 »

You find a chart that you love but you do not have any of the right threads to do it.

I am starting a design from an old issue of cross stitch crazy and I've had to to substitute some of the colours for a different number as I don't have them! I have a bobbin box full of anchor threads too but I never seem to have the right ones!

My local store sells anchor threads but they are 90p each! I am going to put an order in with across town stitching and just hope that they come next week! They are only 38p

Wish me luck!

I have a decent floss stash and I never have the right numbers when I need them!

I've spent my last 3 stitching sessions frogging more than I've stitched!

Totally feel your pain. I have a bag full of threads that aren't DMC or Anchor (they don't really have a brand name) and I hate not having the exact colour!

Hope you get the threads soon :D

Yes that is very frustrating indeed! Especially when I KNOW I have the color needed it's just not where it should be.. How does that happen :thinks:

I have the DMC checklist, and have marked off the flosses that I do have. I don't have the full set, but its close- maybe 80% of their color line. But.. that doesn't mean I can FIND the threads I am supposed to have!

I have tooo many projects kitted, and in some stage of completion. So when I went to find a thread the other day, I opened up waaay to many project bags searching for the floss I needed. One I couldn't find at all.. so either its hiding, the trolls took it, or I mis-marked my checklist. Instead of stitching, I spent the night searching for thread.

The trolls, no doubt about it.

I've been getting in with project ok with substituting colours. It looks ok so far but I will post a progress pic soon :)

I've always wondered if anyone knows if you can buy a full set of anchor threads or DMC? And how much it would be. I have browsed online loads but can't se to come across anything!

Glad I'm not alone on the thread numbers! I didn't order any in the end as I seem to be doing ok for now! I've earned lots of tips at work this week so far so if I am desperate will pop to my craft store :)

I bought my full set of DMC from ebay about 6 years back. There was a seller on that would send the whole set of solid colors as one and there was NO shipping charge then. I got the whole lot for 38 cents a floss and that was awesome.

I remember seeing on a stash website recently that they offered the whole 4oo+ collection. I can't remember which site it was and now I'm looking for it. Just remember that they wanted I want to say between 350-450 for it. I know that is a wide range of numbers, I've admired so many stash sales and stuff lately that my head is spinning. To stay on topic, that is one of the things I hate. Seeing sales and not having money until after the sale ends :tantrum: Or...when you're fixing to insert your needle from the back of your work to the front and your big mouthed booming voice rottweiler sitting next to you decides she wants her voice heard for the hell of it eventhough there is nothing outside. I didn't think I could jump that high! The old man cat on my lap didn't think it was necessary either.

Here's one I found when searching: http://crossstitchworld.com/cross-stitc ... =DMC472SET" target="_blank
I want to say that I saw the more expensive set on Amazon...way too expensive

I found the full set here and not a bad price. I would of course order from their Canadian site but this is the U.S. site.

Stephanie- I would ask Across Town Stitching.. since you already order from them, or really, any stitch site. I am sure they all would do it.. they just don't advertise it.
Or maybe break it up and buy the 1-200 color numbers now, then the 3-400's later, and on and on.. so you'll eventually buy the whole collection, bits at a time. I would think many online retailers would work with you on that.

I decided to save money by going through my floss and just ordering what I thought I could use more of/was out of. When I was done, I hit the button. A screen came up saying the server could be busy, blah blah and to try again. I then tried again. Same screen. Tried again, and same screen. I finally to my order and was shocked to find it was over $500. Somehow Herrschners site had changed the quantities from 1 to 4. I went through and changed all the quantities. I clicked on update cart, then review your order. Again, the quantities were changed from 1 to 4!

Finally I got the order I wanted. I noticed the shipping was only $6 than if I'd ordered the entire 454 colour set. I did the math and, with the shipping, I'd be paying $0.66/skein vs. $0.44/skein if I ordered the entire set.

I deleted everything and ordered the entire set.

I agree!! I always need some new color I don't have in my stash. Now when I buy a chart I buy the floss. I also have a chart of what I have and just buy what I need.
