Great progress on the UFOs. I am inspired and plan to stitch on a UFO this weekend.

Re: UFO Club (1st to 7th of each month)
I started this project TEN years ago. I got really overwhelmed by it's complexity and size and took about 3 years off. I have actually worked on it for over six years. It is about 12 x 14 inches. I recently decided I had better finish it before I loose my eyesite. When I started I didn't need reading glasses-LOL. I keep it on a tabletop frame when I stitch due to the size. I should be finished in a few months with the stitching then on to the detail work. NEVER again will I do a project this large. Although, it will be worth it when it is finished.

Love the colors in this! Your work on it is beautiful. Can you give us the name of the piece and the designer? It's very lovely.

Re: UFO Club (1st to 7th of each month)
I hadn't heard of the term until I started working at the library a couple years ago and my supervisor mnetioned it in conjunction with my cross-stitch. At first I thought, "I know he doesn't believe in Unidentified Flying Objects; and what does this have to do with cross-stitch." When he saw my confused face, he said it stands for "UnFinished Objects".thegrindre wrote:What does UFO mean around here?

TY. It is The Gaurdian By teresa wetnzler. Discontinued years ago. I think she is a masochist It takes an hour to two hours to do one 10x10 stitch square. All colors are blended of 2 colors and there are constant color changes per square. I would not wish this one on anyone-lol. My jaw dropped when I saw the pattern for the first time. Ha to take to a copy shop to have it enlarged so I could see it. Truly an intense project.natural_isis wrote:Love the colors in this! Your work on it is beautiful. Although I didn't recognise it as soon as I saw it I immediately thought Teresa Wentzler. It's something to do with the beautiful subtle shades. It must be all that blended colouring she does.
You are doing a fantastic job of it.

Wtnlvr - Keep at it on The Guardian! I know how hard it is but it's totally worth it! Check out the finished product in my gallery. It took me 7 years of on & off stitching to get it done and I only had the motivation to finish it because I wanted it for the baby's nursery, along with the other dragon designs I stitched up during my pregnancy.

OMG it looks awesome! I love her stuff. I feel your pain regarding blending and color changes. I started one of her carousel horses many years ago and thought I was in over my head! It will look amazing when it's done though! =)

Your work is stunning! And you had the motivation to do the celtic stitching on the edges. I am not going to do that. It would add another 5 years for me-lol I love how you had it framed and the mat colors. I am almost done with the last full row, then just have the bottom baby row and backstitching to do. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.msufly wrote:Wtnlvr - Keep at it on The Guardian! I know how hard it is but it's totally worth it! Check out the finished product in my gallery. Re: UFO Club (1st to 7th of each month)
Oh my. I have The Guardian, The Minstrel, and Unicorn. Maybe I'll just drool over those that others have stitched. I have so many other projects I want to get done first.
This is a beautiful piece!

Love this dragon project! blended colors take forever to do, just finished one that 85% of the colors are blended.
Re: UFO Club (1st to 7th of each month)

I am still working on this "Children of the Rising Sun" by MarNic Designs. It is a real challenge because the feathers need to be stitched at a angle which can be very confusing from reading the chart. My eyes goes cross-eyed. Also the wolf head dress is hard to tell from one color of thread to another. It took many errors to figure out the which floss was on which needle.
