I'm so sorry, Mabel!!! I lost my ginger a bit over a year ago, and although he wasn't the first (or likely the last) pet I lost, it never gets easier.

Oh I'm so very sorry. It hurts so much and when they are young and fit and go so suddenly it's so shocking and unfair.

Cats often run away when they have an illness, it's just something they do. My cat Jerico did that when he got an ear infection, by the time we found him a week later, with the help of a working Jack Russell he was nearly dead with meningitis. The vet sent him home with me with no hope. He did survive but it was no thanks to his own behaviour!! So they do strange unaccountable things and this is probably what Alfie

My heart weeps - I almost started to cry. I had to say goodby to my last (Baby Girl) just a week and a half ago. 3 furbabies in 3 years and it's so hard. They creep into our heart and life and it's never the same without them.

Oh Mabel I am so sorry! I'm sitting here with tears running down my face at the thought of your loss and pain, and the thoughts of my own losses.

Alfie was so young (and beautiful!), but I have found age makes no difference. I lost a cat (Kitty) when she was close to 15; I lost another cat (Squiggy) when he was only three (and I had only had him eight months). I was prepared for one and not the other...no matter, it hurts!!

They sneak into our hearts and leave their paw prints there forever. Losing a family member is never easy, and our furchildren are family! Thinking of you.

  I am so sorry to hear about Alfie, Mabel. It is never ever easy to lose a precious furbaby.
I have tears running down my face. The photo of Alfie so reminds me of my Pippen who looked just like Alfie and he has been waiting at the Bridge for 18 years now. Know that we are sending all our love and hugs to you.
