Threads?

Post by Laughin-Stitches »

Can anyone tell me please where I can buy dimensions threads?
There is a dimensions kit I want to buy but because 14count is too small to do for my eyes I will be doing it on 11 count and will need to buy more dimensions threads as I use 4 strands on my 11 counts.
Dont want to buy the kit unless I have access to more of their threads.

I don't know how accurate this is, but this link http://www.cyberstitchers.com/stitching ... ion_charts" target="_blank has conversion charts.

I wonder if Dimensions would let you purchase extra floss if you explain the issue?

Thanks for that link, I too came across it when I did a google search and wondered if they would be exact colours matches.

Thats not a bad idea to contact them and see what they say, thanks!

I recently bought a Dimensions kit that was on clearance. In the instruction sheet under the get started section it says, "Our colors are manufactured especially for us. If you need more thread, contact us with the code number listed on the organizer." On the back of the instructions it has on the bottom, "Questions or comments 800-794-5866 info@wilton.com" target="_blank. There is also http://www.dimensions-crafts.com" target="_blank listed above this at the top this paragraph. Hope that helps. The only reason I know this is because I remember looking at the thread in the kit and thinking I hope there's a way to get more. I go through thread like it's water.

I made already some dimensions kits in the past and I have to say, they always add plenty of thread, more then sufficient....
I would also try to contact them and explain why you need more floss, and I'm sure they will help you and come to an agreement.

good luck! Let us know what the outcome is!

I would ask Dimensions to send more.. and if they don't.. then I would substitute it with DMC or Anchor.

I've worked on kits where there looks to be enough to stitch it a second time.. and I've stitched kits where I barely have a half a thread length left over. Couldn't tell you which brands.. kits were all I used to work on, so it could have been any brand.

I've run out with Dimensions kits before (mostly when I've stuffed up and had to frog and couldn't reuse the thread). They've always been very affable and generous with sending out spares ... but be warned they can take a few weeks to get!

Hmmmm I dont like the sound of that, maybe I should just ditch their threads and do it all in DMC :thinks:

If it were me, I would convert to DMC and then I could be in control of how much thread I have and when I will have it. I would be afraid I would get almost done, run out of the thread and then Dimesions would either not send it to me for whatever reason, it takes forever to arrive, it doesn't match color lot once it does arrive, or they don't send me enough extra. I wouldn't want to invest all of that time to just be disappointed in the end.

Yes Aerona I think that will be the safest way to go, I just get sick of paying kit prices and only using the chart, thought would try something different this time but yeah sounds to unpredictable to me, will do like I always do and just use the chart.

I totally hear you on that one. It won't help you monetarily, but maybe you could find a good use for the unused threads? Maybe a scout troop or a school art or enrichment class would welcome them to use for a craft?

Or a child/niece/nephew/grandchild/cousin/whatever in your life would like to learn? I know kids like making up their own designs so not having a pattern wouldn't be a huge thing. They could make up their own designs for a bookmark or refrigerator magnet or something.

Most of the time when I buy a kit, I end up replacing the floss and fabric. It does make it more expensive but too often the designs are only kit form.

This is exactly why I hate kits. The matter of running out of threads and that they always come with 14count Aida and I never use that anymore. It looks so hugh to me now. Even though I can't see very well I use 1 over 25ct or 1 over 28 count or 2 over 18 count Aida. I use mag eyes along with my reading glasses so I can see what I'm doing. Try mag eyes they are awesome. Then you won't run out of thread and you won't have to make your picture so big.

I love my mag-eyes!

Of course you must do what you want. I am so glad that they will provide more threads for you-that is good customer service. :applesauce:
