Thank you all for such lovely comments, and for approving the blue modification on the border. :D

Glad you now approve of Chinese dragons, fccs! They're great! :D

I have now completed the basic stitching! :sun: :sun:

The object that looks rather like a sun is not actually a sun.
The book says "The bright pearl he reaches for is a symbol of the moon, controlling tides and planting times... he grants rich soil to grow abundant crops and swift rivers to carry sustenance to all."

About to start on the Kreinik gold braid.......

Thanks, everyone! :D

This was taken with a flash cos the light was poor - it was raining - so the colours look a bit washed out. There is a lot of sparkly gold, but you can't really see the sparkle in this pic - I'll try to get a better image next time.
A lot of backstitching is done, but his face and foreleg and the flaming pearl still look foggy.

It's been ages since I posted - ever since I got my PS3, the computer hasn't really called to me!

Wow how have I not seen this before? Your dragon looks stunning and I think the blue in the border looks totally natural, like it was designed that way!

This is gorgeous!! I can't wait til you finish the face to see how it turns out. And the blue in the border looks perfect. I was admiring it as I looked through the pics thinking it was nice the border wasn't just shades of a single color but two, that it was much more interesting that way.
