Larger Qsnaps
I went to the local embroidery store yesterday, and to my surprise they had qsnaps. I bought a large one, I think 11 by 17, but when I attached it to the fabric I wanted to work on, it was so large, I couldn't really work around it. I was so excited about finding it too. If I held it long wise, I was making large movements, if I held it width ways, my arms couldn't reach.
Any tips? Can qsnaps be put into stands? I can't imagine anyone working that size just holding it.

Re: Larger Qsnaps
I don't use Qsnaps myself - but there are stitchers on here that definitely use them with stands, as you've discovered they can be a bit hard to hold when they are that big. A lot of stitchers use them in conjunction with a Lowery Stand with either the corner or side clamp, but I'm sure there are probably other compatible stands out there too.

Re: Larger Qsnaps
That is the size I am using with my HAED, it goes on to my stitchmaster stand and works fine. The stitchmaster stand does not have a clamp, it has arms where you rest the frame.
Before getting the stand I used to prop it against a little ikea table called dave and that walked fine too.

Re: Larger Qsnaps
Thanks ladies, I am relieved not to have wasted $38.00 on it lol. Hubby was with me at the time. I have never used a stand as I just sit on my bed and stitch. Its the Mum cave lol.(the bedroom, not my bed) He keeps looking at all my other craft stuff I never kept I up with.
But I promise him, this is the one. FOR SURE.

Re: Larger Qsnaps
If you have a clever hubby he could adapt your qsnaps and make a stand

Re: Larger Qsnaps
I do use a lap stand and it is wonderful but I do not use anything larger then 11X11 and I have several of those. I just do not care to reach more then that when stitching.
If you are looking for some one to help change you, look in the mirror
Re: Larger Qsnaps
before I got my lowery stand I encountered the same problem.
I used to store all my stitchy stuff in a large box and I discovered that I could rest the qsnap on the box so it was on an angle and I could stitch that way without overstretching too much
However even with the stand I do find that my arms start to ache much much quicker when I am stitching near the edges of the frame

Re: Larger Qsnaps
I find anything larger than 11 x 11 too unwieldy for me to hang onto.. and too difficult to stitch in the middle of. Like you said.. lots of arm/ shoulder movement.
I don't have a stand- so I have to hold onto mine. Usually an 8x8 or 8x11 frame. I have added the extensions onto the 11" legs so they were 14".. but only so I wouldn't have to remove and shift my fabric. It worked.. but I didn't like it.

Re: Larger Qsnaps
I started using the huge one when I first started stitching again but I found the 11x11 the perfect size for stitching. I now use the giant one for beading my Mira projects or trying to make my HAEDs flatter for taking photos.
Re: Larger Qsnaps
the 11x17 is my favourite size! I set it so its resting on my belly with my left arm supporting the top, I stitch one handed so it works for me. I do keep looking for a stand as my arm does get tired after a while.

Re: Larger Qsnaps
I bought the 17x17's and found it too hard to reach around, but they are perfect for projects with enough fabric to use the 17x17 with the design quite a bit smaller than the 17x17. Does that make sense? The chapel I recently finished was in the 17x17's and I loved it because I could see the entire design area.
