I had to opt for 3 strands for the blue as I just wasn't happy with the coverage of 2, but 2 has been fine for the red... Oh well, all part of the learning process I guess!

Great start! I don't know why different colored threads are so different in thickness, but have heard that it is because of the dying process. DMC 310 (black) is notorious for being thin. Your coverage looks great. Can't wait to see the ginger cat!

The stitchy bug seems to come in fits and starts and it does seem that some evenings all I am doing is unpicking... I had to about 100 stitches last night (red at the bottom) due to starting in a completely random place
great update! Hope Mr. stays away from this point on. He can be so annoying.
