Fabric Color Question

I purchased a copy of Indigo Rose's "Brittany's Quilt." However, I'm not too keen on the colorway. The design suggests Light Sand Belfast but it looks really creamy/yellow to me. Can anyone suggest a high count fabric (28-32) that would look good as the background of an antique quilt sort of design[1] without being that weird cream yellow?
I would use a regular brownish linen color but that seems like it wouldn't be very... quilt-y.

light sand would be creamy yellow...sand is yellow...

What about antique white? It's not quite cream, not quite white. Sort of a milky colour. Or Ivory?

I don't know if I would go with anything that has a lot of color to it.
I think they went with a yellow to make all that delicate green blackwork stand out.

If you don't want to go with a tan.. what about a reallllly light smoke/ grey.

I like to look at the Wichelt website for color info.
They have their fabrics listed with a DMC equivalent.
Makes it easy to check your threads to get a color approximation.

With the options on the left- you can search by fabric count, type or color. Quickly narrow down your search. I don't think you can order from their site.. but an LNS should be able to, or an online needlework shop should.

Hmmmm. I use quite a lot of antique white. I wouldn't describe it that way. The stuff I use looks white. . .just not blinding white.

Maybe a 32ct Platinum lugana? It's close to a DMC 3033.

I don't know about a specific fabric, but I would use something that's somewhat of an eggshell or bone color - nearly white but not quite..

Why don't you wash some 'antique white' or plain white in a solution of tea....that might take the Blech out of it and give it a more antique aged look.

Thanks for the advice but I think I'm going to wimp out and go with just plain white. I went to my local craft store to look at DMC colors ala Wichelt but I'm still unsure.
