Haven't been on this thread for a while, lost my stitchy but I really had to get started on Christmas stuff and this is the first thing I have stitched in weeks,
An ornament for my BF's first grandson.
What a great way to lure your stitchy bug back home. Promise an adorable, precious and unique ornament and no way he could resist! The front is so cute and the back is what turns it into an heirloom to keep forever!

"The world, as a colourful knot of threads, has turned into a memory, and now you cannot be sure whether it was real." (Géza Ottlik, Hungarian writer)
I worked on this over the weekend and really enjoyed stitching it--the metallic nearly drove me goofy, along the borders but otherwise it really was pretty fun--I used a lot of different threads, kreinik #4 braid, kreinik blending floss, silks, caron thread and even some dmc #5
Here's a close up of one of the wings and beading
This was stitched on 18 count cork linen--a first for me

I so agree!!! The top wings with the little crosses between the cross stitches (don't know how else to describe it) give it such a beautiful textured look. Lovely!!

Very pretty! It looks like it was fun to stitch.

I just had to stitch this one up--after seeing the project that a couple of you are doing. I've just opted to do this one and will likely make it into an ornament for my sister. I deviated from the floss list, opting to use specialty threads I already had--most are silks of some sort, many from dinky dye oops bags and I love how it stitched up. I may just have to do this one again!!
