I was browsing all the other lovely crafts that everyone does and remembered how much I loved to crochet. I had stopped crocheting after my son was killed as the last thing I made was an afghan for him in the Broncos colours. It just hurt too much to be reminded of something so horrible whenever I picked it up.
I then had a good cry the other day even though it's been many years since his death and thought to myself that he would not want me to stop doing something that I love as he always loved to see me happy. So I decided to check out some videos and found this lovely youtube channel where the lady is delightful and shows how to do everything from start to finish. She is such a great instructor and I have learned so much in just three days lol.
So here is the first project that I did after not crocheting for 14 years. I had never crocheted anything except for blankets so this was very fun. I didn't have a head to put it on so you just have to use some imagination. I know it looks adorable on me so that's all that I care about hehe. So here you go, my very first crochet beanie in my favourite colour.

I can't knit to save my life so that's out of the question. I tried to learn how to do it but I just couldn't get the hang of it. I have a friend that just taught herself how to do it and she is making such lovely things. I guess I'm just not coordinated enough or my brain doesn't work right. Good luck though hope you conquer the knitting monster.

That's brill! Well done!
And good for you for getting back into it. I'm sure you're right and your son wouldn't have wanted you to stop doing something that made you happy.
Can you post the YouTube link that you used?
I am very new to crochet. I've done 2 very simple scarves and I've started a hat but I think the pattern I've chosen is too complicated! I think I do better when watching what someone's doing rather than reading written instructions...
