Hello

Post by TouchwoodBoxes »

Hello!
My name is Roy, my family and I make sewing & cross-stitch storage boxes from our home in Rochester, Kent.

We are also avid cross-stitchers and embroiderers, and look forward to chatting with like minded people.

We were led to this forum after a number of visitors to our website came from here, so we're hoping to get on well with everyone.

 Hello and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! We definitely like to talk and chat and share our ideas about cross stitching (and other subjects now and then  ). I hope that you and Jean and the rest of your family will post pictures of your stitching projects. We love pictures. Do you each have different types of stitching that you prefer?

Welcome from the West of Scotland!

And remember we have a pub (The Stash and Grab) as well as a clinic (St Cross Stitchers). Out round the back of the pub is the treehouse, too. And we do love pictures in the SAL thread (generally, we all watch your stitching progress, although there is actually a proper stitch along on the go, too, at the moment). :camera:

oooohh.. you make the beautiful wood thread storage boxes. Someone on the site was oogling them and posted a link not too long ago.. so of course, we all had to go take a look.

If you EVER need anyone to test out a box for you.. have extras laying around you don't know what to do with.. just want to send one out to a random person.. I will gladly accept anything.. at any time!! Seriously, your boxes are fantastic

Heres an something to think about.. storage for pearle cotton. Both the balls and the skeins. Thats the thing giving me storage issues lately. Also.. a rough count for how many bobbins or skeins of floss each drawer will hold would be helpful.

Where has it gone??

Der I just spent ages writing a reply- went to get some pictures & was logged out / lost the post.!!!

What I was saying was thanks everyone very much for the warm welcome. Will try to sort out some pictures and info etc.

How it works is: we run a family business where Wife Jean is the boss, me - Roy & eldest daughter Emma hand craft our cross stitch storage boxes. See samples on our website: touchwoodboxes.com

Daughter-in-law Sophy does all types of stitching as you will see when I manage to post the pictures. Jean likes to do all sorts of samplers, and anything else that takes her fancy, currently backstitching and beading an art deco lady, in-between knitting christmas jumpers for the grand children.

I am sending this before I lose it again.

Help can anyone tell me how to put images on a post.

Hope this works

Regards

ROY

Hi Maggie

If it fits inside our drawers we can make bespoke storage for it just give us the sizes, problems involved etc and I will get back to you. Please see details of bespoke storage and draw sizes on our website.
Our bobbin insert holds 160 and skein storage 120 approximately.

 Hi and Welcome from me too in sunny Brisbane. Sad that you are so far away as your storage boxes look awesome.

Hope you can sort out how to post pics - it would be great to see your WIP's.

Serinde forgot to mention our "magic sofa" which we sometimes pull out and settle down to watch someone stitch a design we love but don't have it ourselves.

Hi Reta

Ooop's I missed that button- that's one of the problems with normally using autosave!!

Thanks very much for the link & info Reta, I have had a quick look and hopefully I can get it to work for me, But I need to go and do some work now to make sure We don't get behind with our Christmas orders. Get back to it later.

As to the interest in members receiving sample boxes. We have in the past done giveaways competitions etc maybe thats a possibility - but I would need to communicate with someone in charge of the forum? to make sure I don' do anything Wrong as a new be - who would that be?

As we always say, no one minds a newbie asking questions. :) You have a choice! PM any of the moderators (apart from Rose who is on holiday) and we'll take it from there.

Hi All

I am trying to post photos, but it looks like I can only send one at a time rather than a quantity. So I am sending Jean Exotic Lady which is currently a WIP. Hope it works!!

PM is a Private Message. It is a way that we communicate with each other about things that you want to share with only one or several members, or when exchanging information that doesn't belong in an open forum, like addresses, email addresses, phone numbers etc. Serinde is one of our moderators. If you look in the upper left corner where it says New Topic or Reply, directly above it you will see a list of moderators for that particular section. As Serinde said, Rose is taking a much needed holiday as she was the sole moderator for many years. It takes three of us to fill her shoes!
Alex takes loving care of the technical side of the forum. For most things needing a moderator you can "PM" Serinde, karen4bells or me (rcperryls). On the bottom left of each post, you will see buttons for "Profile" "Gallery" and PM I PW. If you click on that you will get a box that looks like a reply box. Type your message, hit submit and you've "pm'd" the person. (I have no idea what PW means). And never worry about asking a question! I have asked so many I couldn't keep count.
