My aunt has decided she can not see well enough to cross stitch anymore and I have inherited one of her WIP to finish for her:
Unfortunately she miscounted the entire top left border by one square. I can not decide weather to leave it as is or frog the whole left side. (She's a knotter and the back is a mess.) It's a very old Bucilla kit from the late 90's and I am worried about not having enough floss left to finish if I decide to frog it. This is what it should look like when completed:
Any suggestions?

I think that I would as well. Before you do, maybe you should see if you can match up the threads to DMC ones that are in the store??? That way you would have them on hand in case you need the extra thread

Where is she off a stitch? From the far left to the first break? The part that would be filled in with the blue zig zag? Or from the 2nd bar to the middle?
If it were the zig zag part.. I would frog it. Only because of the blue being so geometric.. it would be hard to adjust to the one stitch. But I would frog the inside line and shift it over one spot. Then adjust spacing of the text somewhere.. which would be easy enough with all that empty spots. I wouldn't rip out that whole left side just for one stitch. (but thats me.. I do what I can to avoid frogging.. in most patterns, there is room for a few adjustments)
If its already the text box thats off.. leave it. One space off won't make any difference when you are done with the project. Just make sure to adjust each line to be one short.. instead of 3 spots between a letter, make it 2. Trust me.. you won't know by the end of it.

It is the text box that is off, not the zig zag part. I was thinking it probably would not be too bad if I just leave it as is and adjust the text, like you said. I just wasn't sure it would look okay. If it was for me I would not care, but I am incredibly anal when it comes to work that is going to someone else.
I would frog as well but agree a one stitch adjustment won't be noticable in the finished piece.
When I first read your post I thought you were referring to the "wood" border on the left as we look at it. If so I have the same chart but mine was from a Janlynn kit which used DMC so the colours are 977, 3827 and 3826.
I agree with Maggie. And if it is for someone else, and you keep the mistake to yourself, then they will never know, and you won't be looking at it every day. Win-Win.

I decided to frog the section because it is still really bugging me. Thank you for the DMC codes! I checked them out against the threads in my kit and they look like a great match!
