Hello from Cambridgeshire UK

Post by Ioannes »

Hi all
I would like to introduce myself to you all and a bit about myself.

I have been doing cross stitch and embroidery for about 32 years having been taught by my mother who was excellent embroiderer and teacher at a night class. She taught me when I found I had early onset of arthritis in my hands and I have used it with other craftwork to keep my hands mobile. My mother taught me freestyle, Broderie Anglaise, crewel work, Jacobean and Elizabethan embroidery styles. I have picked up general cross stitch, Red work, Assisi work, Hardanger, drawn and pulled thread work.

I worked as a design engineer but disability after a medical problem has meant I have become a writer and cartoonist, which I have been doing for years part time.
All the best
John

 Hello John and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! You have a lot of stitching skills with all those different embroidery and other needlework crafts, as well as cross stitching. I hope that you will post pictures of your work. We love pictures! Looking forward to getting to know you.

 Hi John and Welcome from very warm Brisbane, its great to have you along.

You certainly have a vareity of needlework options to keep your hands busy and I admire anyone who can draw - I am hopeless at it. However I console myself by painting pictures with my needle and thread instead. Looking forward to seeing some of your work on the forum.

Welcome to the forum and greetings from Colorado.

I hope you'll share pictures of what you're working on...it sounds like you can do it all. When it comes to needlework, I used to do needlepoint, but now I just do cross stitch and some counted canvas.
