I found it on Pinterest by searching for 'snowflake christmas tree blackwork'. It seems to be e Russian design, but the web link is broken. The actual chart is there, which I find worrying, except that it was a freebie originally.

Couldn't figure out what to do then I found a chart I did years ago for my Bf when the girls were little. It was a box of ornaments, each in it's own compatrment, there were 11 ornaments and in the 12 compartment was a sleeping mouse, the first thing her daughter said was, "why is there a dead mouse in the box" I stitched 6 of the prettiest ones and used as much metalics as I could (shame you can't really see it but all the yellow areas are metalic along with some red green and purple areas.) On the back of the mouse ornmaent is "not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse"

Linda, these ornies are beautiful, where did you get the patterns? I do ornies for my nieces and nephews every year and I am always looking for different patterns.

The chart was in the 1997 issue of Cross-Stitchers Christmas magazine.

And you stitched it up and finished it that quickly? So fast, and it's beautiful. I love how you finished it. Did you design the finish or are there directions out there somewhere?

It is surprisingly quick to stitch up, about 5 hrs while I watched TV.
I made up the finish, The piece of fabric was twice the width of the design plus the ususal extra. I centered the design in the middle of the fabric then back stitched around the design. There was half the width of the design left on either side so I back stitched that so it joined in the middle of the back. I had a piece of leftover mounting board which I put some felt on the stitcky side. Stitched up the back then basted the top and bottom turn in so I could slip the board into the sleeve I created then pushed the cord with the tassels up the back . Stitched the top and bottom together with the cord in plafe. Now I hope you can understand that. lol.

That makes perfect sense as I read it...but I reserve the right to ask for clarification when I am ready to attempt it. :-)

Here are three mini pieces I've stitched over the past month when I had a spare day here & there from working on Fjord Ponies. I intended all 3 to go into round ornament frames but I calculated poorly and the first 2 were too big for the frames that I had. I didn't have time to learn & figure out how to finish them into flat ornaments so I found mini frames that fit them best and made it work. All 3 will be given next week to the staff at the Mother's Day Out (a daycare) that my daughter goes to three days a week for 3.5 hrs each day.
