What's the biggest you have done?

Post by vanessanjf »

My wonderful boyfriend bought me this kit for Christmas
http://www.goldenkitestore.com/index.php/2062.html" target="_blank
It is a monster!! I am going to be starting it after I have finished my Jim Morrison.
I have been challenged to try and stick to this one only without rotating until I have completed it, so I will do my best :D
I just wondered what is the biggest project you are doing/ have done?

Lovely design, Vanessa, and good luck finishing it without rotating!

Adobe White is my biggest so far at 128,000 stitches, but the biggest on my to do list is HAED Resting Tree at 557,500 stitches. At least it explains why I'm so keen to increase my stitching speed!

Oh my word Vanessa - that is crazy huge! I look forward to seeing your start on it! Think I can safely say I will never be attempting anything that big. The biggest I've stitched and finished so far is a HAED mini at about 75,000 and the biggest in my stash is only about the 350,000 mark.

I bow to your stitchy greatness and courage!

That is gorgeous and definitely HUGE! I know I have never come close to doing anything like that. I try to stay under 500 x 500 with the projects I pick. Not sure which is the largest I have finished or the largest in my stash. I think that the HAED Sistine Chapel is one of the largest I've seen, but not in my future. I will enjoy watching you stitch this one!

   Wonderful design.
My biggest is 11" x 14", In Loving Memory Remembrances. Done 9 last year, 7 in 2012, and will finish with 7 this year.
I have in the "planning stage" for myself, after I get all the projects for this year, 13, including the 7, and the starting of 8 afghans in 2015 and ending 2023, 2 projects. One is the Lord's Supper, from a Leisure Arts leaflet, done on 18 ct. Aida, 21" x 7" and the other is Angel of Cross Stitch, by Joan Elliot, also done on 18 ct. Aida, 9 1/2" x 13". I don't think I could accomplish anything bigger.
The afghans are for family members and each afghan will be personalized as far as what the person likes, or decor in their lives or house. I don't think the afghans ought to be considered overall the "biggest" projects, not like HAEDS or my, In Loving Memory Remembrances, as the afghan is "big" as far as size, but the designs are "small" for what will be put on them.
Good luck in your endeavor and please post your "ongoing" progess as you go.
GBU.

Definitely the biggest I have going are my HAEDs, but the biggest I've actually finished is probably the wedding sampler I did over the summer.

Nothing is anywhere close to being that big. Kudos to you if you don't work on anything else until it's done, as it will be quite some time!

Good luck!

That's going to be lovely. :) I don't think I could do it straight through without taking a break to do something small and get some 'finish' satisfaction along the way.
I think the largest piece I've done was 26" x 18", but it was a sampler, so there was a lot of unstitched area. I don't know what I've done that has the most stitches. I have kitted up and ready to go (and chomping at the bit to start) Vanitas Still Life from Scarlet Quince.
http://www.scarletquince.com/pat.php?pat=CLA002" target="_blank
It'll be my 'big' project for 2014, but it's only 344 x 250 stitches.

Wow, that will be massive. My biggest completed piece is TW's The Guardian but Sandy Littlejohn's A Victorian Christmas Eve has a larger stitch count at 422x114 and on 14ct it'll be about 30" wide.

Best of luck to you! What fabric count are you going to use?

Oh my, that's gorgeous! And biiiiig!! I've never done anything even remotely that large. I think you'll have to work on others during this one, but if anyone can finish it, it is definitely you. I can't wait to see progress pictures. You boyfriend is very thoughtful and obviously very supportive of your habit, and very confident in your abilities (as he should be).

 Wow that is one huge chart!

The biggest chart I've stitched is Thea Gouvenors The Birdtable which is about 18"x 40" but not all the fabric is covered. The biggest chart stitch count wise I've stitched is HAED Bygone Summer which was 400x507.

Good Luck with your stitching challenge!

Wow! I can't imagined stitching one that big. I am struggling with regular sized HAED let alone one that big! I am impressed!

Have always been one for smaller projects mostly because I don't think I would ever finish something really large. I recently got a tree silhouette pattern that is 308x357 and thought I was off my rocker because of it is by far the largest project in the stash. Plus it is completely stitched and all of my previous work always had an unstitched area.

It is all in the perspective. Now there really is no excuse after seeing that it is relatively a small project in comparison. You are all definitely super stitchers. :applesauce:

I've never measured ... certainly not whopping huge but I've done a few that had to go on a floor stand.
