Well, all of my grand plans for making progress on this vanished in the midst of Christmas stitching and my new crafting obsessions, knitting and spinning. I am finally at a point where I don't have any gifts that need to be finished ASAP (though there are some that need to be done by the beginning of summer), so I am finally able to rotate as I please between pieces, which should do wonders for my stitching mojo.

With this particular piece, I am about to hit a big milestone. Once I finish the backstitching in this section, I will be HALFWAY DONE! Yay! Sorry if I sound overly excited, but with all of the shading, fractional stitches, and backstitching, this piece requires quite a bit of time to make any progress.

I will finish the backstitching on this before switching to another project.

This is adorable! What a sweet gift. You are doing great and the backstitching just makes it perfect. I will be looking for more updates. Where did you get this kit?

I bought this last summer on Herrschner's, a craft supply website. The kit comes with Aida, which is fine. However, this piece has a fair amount of fractional stitches. I have no problem doing fractional stitches, but it is slightly more difficult on Aida. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought a piece of evenweave or linen to do it on and saved the Aida for ornaments or something.

I will, probably in my miscellaneous thread. :) I want to spin a bit more first. I only have what I did the day that a local lady showed me how. I haven't had time to sit back down and work on it again. I would like to spend at least 10 minutes or so a day, but I am absolutely slammed right now with work and studying. Plus, any crafty time I have had in the past couple of weeks I've wanted to spend stitching or knitting.

Why isn't there more time in the day! :D

I'M HALFWAY DONE!!!!!!!  :D

I am so excited right now. I just finished the backstitching on the bottom right corner, which means I'm officially halfway done! I may be a little bit more than halfway, but all I care is that I'm definitely over halfway.

I am really hoping to finish this project this spring, but we will have to wait and see. Now that I've finished this section, I'm putting this away (hopefully not for long) while I work on some other projects and make some new starts (like the Once Upon a Time SAL and the AAN Halloween SAL and everything else in the world). And knit. And spin. And podcast. And study. And stuff. :)

Oh and I finally took pictures with a real camera and not my phone! I just happen to be home during the day when there's decent light so I borrowed my husband's camera (which I learned how to use while on vacation). The first picture is from my phone and is what I showed in the last update.
