well I've been meaning to update this for a while but never getting around to it.

My work hours have increased so i've not had as much time as I would have liked to work on this but I felt like i made a LOT of progress today



I've finally finished filling in most of the left hand side (lots and lots of confetti stitches) and the rose/stand and the tiles on the balcony are all backstitched.

I've changed the colour of the backstitch on the curved edge of the balcony from a dark grey beige (very subtle, the same as on the gargoyle) to a medium/dark grey. I'm not sure how I like it but I wanted to darken the colour a bit and the only think darker on my colour cards was a very dark grey so I've improvised.

I also darkened the bs on the rose and glass cover by 1 shade, from medium to dark pink and initially I wasn't sure it was dark enough but it is growing on me.

There is a bit of filling in still required on the left hand side but it is mostly one colour and I'm planning on following that right across and up to the castle, completing backstitch as I go, and possibly french knots too. Then I will fill in the characters and backstitch them

I got gifted a cross stitch pattern from my partner as a late xmas gift and I'm really itching to start that but I'm still waiting on threads etc to arrive so im hoping to get as close to finishing this before they arrive and i feel compelled to start a new project!

Another small update as I finished the backstitching on the left side and wanted a photo before I moved on



I've also completed all the french knots in that area- probably in the region of 200, in a few different colours. the ones going up the side of the bridge I changed from a purple and rust colour, to a dark red because it matched the pattern better.

They all went pretty quickly as you only wrap around the needle once, and I actually really enjoyed doing them which is a first for me as I usually loathe french knots

Now I've moved on to working on the castle

I haven't had a huge amount of time to work on this, plus I've not been well this week.

I made a lot of progress yesterday and today though



I've got the french knots to finish on the right hand side, half the castle to backstitch then I'm back to 'regular' stitching for a bit.

I've altered the colour of the backstitching on the propellers of Maurice's Balloon to a darker grey - its actually the new one DMC brought out a few months back. I also changed the backstitching on the castle to the same colour. I think it makes it stand out lots better and I'm falling in love (pun intended) with the castle again lol

The blending filament was much easier to use this time around. I tried going up a needle size after reading a tip in one of the other SAL's and it made a huge difference.

I've just read through all your posts and pictures, and wow what an incredible design, you are doing just brilliantly with this. it's really beautiful. And you must be close to finishing it, just stunning.
