Re: Cindrella Wishes Upon A Dream *Sept 16 -- Page 14*
Good morning everyone! I've been happily stitching away all of my spare time (which doesn't add up to very much). It's coming along slowly. It looks like it's going to take at least another year or two at this pace to finish this project. I think I need to find some smaller pieces to work on just so I can have the satisfaction of finishing something.
Here is the comparison between 9/16 and 9/22:

And here is the progress as of this morning:

There are so many partial stitches in the village that it is making me have to double and triple check before I stitch. I try to mark out the stitches ahead of time because otherwise my distractions (aka my 3 little monsters) tend to pull me away just as I begin, but marking partial stitches is difficult. I've had to frog many sections just because I put full stitches where I wasn't supposed to. I wish I could think of an easier way!!

Wow! Very impressive! I understand the need to do small projects so you feel like you're "doing" something.

That looks great!!!!!! I have no suggestion for helping mark the fractional stitches. I am sorry you are having to
so much but your work is wonderful!!!!!!

Re: Cindrella Wishes Upon A Dream *Sept 25 -- Page 15*
Time for an end-of-the-month catch up! Over on my blog, I call this a "Look Back", where I not only compare the projects progress from the beginning of the month to the end, but I also crazily show the back of my work. I know there is a stigma about the back of projects but I love showing off the back of mine. I'm obsessive over it looking as neat as possible, so it takes up a lot of extra time planning out how I'm stitching and making it look good. It's definitely not perfect, but I try to get it to lay as flat as possible without having too many running threads and absolutely zero knots. I figure that if I'm going to obsess about it that much then I'm going to show it off!
So, anywho, here come the pics!
Beginning of Sept 2013:

End of Sept 2013:

Back of the project:

I'm still deciding if I'm going to keep working on this exclusively or try doing some other projects for a little while. I have quite a big stash but a lot of them are big projects as well. Maybe I'll check out etsy and see if there are any cute small projects I can buy!

Startitis virus doesn't sound so bad actually. I'm definitely going to limit myself to no more than 2 or 3 rotating projects at a time. I just have to fulfill this need to finish something -- anything!! -- instead of working on the same thing. This has been my only project for the better part of 2 years now and I think I need a bit of a change.rcperryls wrote:![]()
Front and back look good. I know how hard it is to get the back to look right, something I fuss about only on my afghans. Otherwise, I don't pay much attention
Your piece is coming along beautifully. Be warned, if you switch from being a "1 at a time" stitcher, you open yourself to the startitis virus. Which is the only virus I know of that can be a lot of fun.

Both front and back look amazing.
As for starting and finishing smaller projects, I think that is a great idea. The way I do it is I aim for one page of MIIHO per month. When I finish that page, whatever time is left in the month is used for other projects, whether they be cross stitching, sewing, quilting or WHY. I also have small projects that I can take with me to work or doctor's appointments. The small stitching projects take a little longer but I feel like I am accomplishing something.

Wow the piece is lovely so far!! such beautiful colours and the back is so neat!
The startitus virus is one that neer leaves when it hits you!
I had always worked on little pieces one at a time but when I started my first big project I began to crave a finish. I like to go between two projects at a time now. One small piece a week that I finish in a day or two and work on my big piece the rest of my stitchy time that week

Re: Cindrella Wishes Upon A Dream *Sept 30 -- Page 15*
Just a quick update. I'm still struggling to find time for stitching so I haven't completed as much as I wish I could have on this. To top it off, we have our house on the market so my days are spent trying to keep it spotless with 3 kids running around and my camera decided to die, so I'm using my cell phone to take pics.
Here is the most recent picture from a few days ago:

The village is almost complete. I've gotten a bit more done on this since this picture was taken but I haven't had a chance to take a new picture just yet.
I keep saying I want to finish this by the end of this year, but I've said that for 3 years now so who knows LOL
