I have bought enough threads for 25ct using one strand for an HAED, i want to use a Ct that i can use 2 strands for because i prefer using the loop method.
what fabric can i use for this? What is equivalent to using 1strand on 25ct? and that will make the final project look just as good
i put this in tips + tricks, because there might be away of working things like this out, and i would like to know
Maybe I don't understand the question, but you could use 2 strands on 25ct, but it will require more thread. Using 28ct over two would make your project a bit smaller. But there shouldn't be any problem using 2 strands on 25ct. It will just double the amount of thread needed. Hope I am understanding what you are asking.
I think if you want to stitch full crosses on 25 count, you're going to have to bite the bullet and just go with one strand. Some people have tried stitching with 2 strands on 25 count but most find that it is entirely too bulky. If you really want to use 2 stands, you could try tent stitching the pattern - that is stitching just the bottom leg of the stitch, but using 2 strands of floss rather than one. This will give you a similar result size wise to stitching 1 over 1 on 25 count. Just make sure to do a bit of searching on how to do tent stitch - it isn't exactly the same as doing just the bottom leg of a cross stitch, there's a particular way you form the stitches.
If you really want to stitch using 2 strands, I would recommend going up to lower count fabric - I know you can use 2 stands on 18 or 20 count, and possibly 22 count. These will of course use more floss, and make your finished pieces larger. I know some people say that they like the results of doing a HAED on 18 count, but it is a bit too large for my tastes as individual stitches are visible that way.
If the starts are the issue in that you don't want to have to keep flipping your frame for them, I would suggest learning how to start/end from the front using a waste knot (or wasteless away start). With all confetti in HAEDs, this is a useful method to learn as there are constant starts and ends.
You can stitch on 25 ct, 2 over 1. The resulting stitches will be quite dense -- which is great for coverage -- and 25 ct is probably the highest count you can reasonably get away with doing 2 over 1. If you're a cross-country stitcher, it might be a bit too dense; but if you're a parker, it's doable.
To use 2 threads and not use any more thread than you would on 25 count you would need to use 50 count material and that i would imagine will be practically impossible, you will either have to resign yourself to one thread and no loop starts or buy more thread.
I did find that if I'm doing cross country then it was extremely difficult to do two over one full cross on 25 ct but with parking I think it would be much easier. My favourite count now for two over one full is 22 count. I generally tent with anything higher than that because it is just too difficult for me because of the bulkiness. I have seen many examples though of two over one full on 25 count so it definitely is possible.

I've never done a haed, do they ordinarily stitch over 1 thread? I guess if you are stitching on 25ct fabric, over 1 thread, then 1 strand is probably enough. But, if you are stitching over 2 threads, you probably need 2 strands.
