Dinky dyes question

Post by Ladymyste65 »

This may be silly but I gotta ask anyway.........how do you store them while you are working on a project?

I'm about to start on my Glendon Place project and just not sure how to store these while I work with them. Do you wrap them on cards/bobbins? Or what?

Just curious what everyone else does with them.

Thanks for helping.

I have mine in floss away bags on a ring, I don't bobbinate then I just kind of wrap them around my hand a bit and pop them in the bag, I've never had one tangle up on me yet :)

I also put them in little plastic baggies and on a ring. I ordered a bunch of small bags from 123stitch last year and punch holes in the top of them and store all my non-DMC floss that way. :) Little snack bags would probably work too.

Thanks for the responses but Storing them is not the issue it's working with them. Should I bobbinate them like I do my DMC floss? Any suggestions on working with them?

I store all non-DMC floss threads in Floss-Away bags. I'm just careful folding up the skeins when I put them in the bag and keep shorter, but still useful, lengths loose in the bag. Haven't had a problem with tangling. Once in the bag it's highly unlikely that they'll get tangled.

I'm lazy when it comes to working with dinky dyes. I punch a hole in the cardboard floss tag and then secure the thread through that. Every other floss company gives you a tag with a hole, so it's gotta work, right? :P

When I'm done working with them they get bobbinated.

while working with any specialty threads I use project cards, looped through a hole keeps them neat while working with them, then when the project is done is floss away bags for leftovers.
