<advice> Stitching a cross stitch to a web belt

Post by lkstitch »

Hi - I'm new here, so I hope this is the right spot to post!

I stitched the nautical alphabet and want to sew the Aida cloth onto a web belt (the military style). Any advice? I'm going to bring it to a professional tailor as I don't think my sewing machine can go through something that tough, but want to give him as much direction as I can as I don't imagine it's a regular request!

thank you! lk

I think this is a wonderful idea. I do not have any advice so to speak but I do know that it is possible to make this work, because I made a cross stitch picture and had it made into a seat cover for my hubbies mustang. I can not find a picture of the finished cover right now but I will get one. Good luck with your project and please show us some pictures when it is complete. :D

Thank you! I actually did this once before (almost 30 years ago), so I know it's possible... just can't remember what I did (or more likely "my mom did") to make it work.

Success! The belt looks great, but I can't figure out how to share a pic... Here's a link to the photo on Shutterfly and I'm hoping it works.
