Getting fuzzy left overs out?

Post by Cora »

I just had to take out some black stitches, and I seem to have a lot of fuzzy black residue left in my white Aida cloth. It's in a really visible place. Are there any tips or tricks that you know that might help me?
TIA

Lint roller, or tape :) works a treat and doesn't damage your other stitches.

I wrap a piece of tape around my finger, sticky side out, and dab at it like that to get out.

Sticky tape wrapped around your hand does the trick very well. :D

I use Judy's Boo Boo Stick.

It's amazingly fast for getting clipped stitches out of the fabric when frogging and it removes all the fuzzy residue.

My sister turned me onto this quilting seam ripper.
On one end is your standard seam ripper (man it was SHARP! I was so used to my old cheapie)
On the other is a rubber eraser thing, shaped sort of like a bee hive
You just rub that over where you've pulled out stitches and it picks everything up.
I think its made by Clover

I've made good friends with that tool lately. I'm attempting to sew a bag- but I sewed my fabric front side to back side. Whoops.

Last Sat. I had to :anotherfrog: the black and white, as the white was turning "greyish" next to the black, changed white to 762, on the Marine Emblem that I am making for a Marine friend, and I used a seam ripper to :ribbit: the stitches, then after all that was done, 8 hrs., I used the tape and a old toothbrush. got it "all" out. It's taking me 2 days to get all back in place.
Gl on your project.

Usually I can brush it away with my fingertip or slightly with my fingernail. I stitch on aida. I did a piece last fall that had a lot of black on it and I had to frog a lot. I never got all of it off, but it was covered mostly by black or gold floss so only I know it's there.
