I actually held off on working in her face as long as I could - it is a reward for finishing the most confetti heavy part of the piece which took me about a month to work on. In contrast I've now stitched in 2 days about the same number of stitches on her face as it took me 2 weeks to do in the most confetti dense part of the pattern.

It's a Nadia Tate design -Kimono Lantern Mermaid. It's not usually the kind of art work I am interested in putting up on my walls, but I fell in love with the vibrant colors and style of the artwork, so I had to stitch it, even if I never actually hang it up. The fabric is 28 count Charles Craft Monaco. It's the first evenweave I used, so I don't really have anything else to compare it to, but I do like it. I think 28 count is just perfect for stitching 1 over 1 and getting great coverage.

I do have a SAL thread for this piece - http://www.crossstitchforum.com/viewtop ... =6&t=21076" target="_blank - but it's been a good 3 months since I last worked on it.. after the intense confetti my stitchy bug went on strike for a bit I think. But it's back with a vengence if how much stitching I've done in the last 2 days is anything to go by. I'll go back to updating on my SAL thread (hopefully weekly) from here on out, but I just wanted to post about being watched!

Different Strokes for Different Folks. I try to leave eyes until the last. So they don't stare at me. Eyes really do "wake up" a picture.

Freaky! Just a tad unnerving to have that staring at you while you stab the needle into her face as you stitch it!
Nice stitching, though. :D

Reminds me of a story my Momma told me. When she was a little girl their neighbor would come home drunk and would be singing "There's an Eye Watching You"!! LOL! Love the pattern and colors!

She's got two eyes and a mouth now - the face part is done and darnit she won't stop talking to me.. calling me, cajoling me to work on her. I'll post a pic in a bit in my regular SAL thread. I've moved from the face to her kimono. There's still plenty of skin left - she ha no neck or shoulders yet, but they're also wide swathes of solid color stitching, so I'm breaking them up a bit, I'll do a confetti area for a bit and then when I need a break and some easy stitching, I'll return to do a bit more work on the solid areas. Carrot and stick method works real well for me!
