Hi all! I'm new here and got back into cross-stitching about a year ago after a 20 break. I forgot how much I love it! I have two WIP's at the moment. One is a View from a Window from Janlynn which will be a present for my friend Crystal. Then I have a wedding record that I'm doing, which is also Janlynn, for my friend Becky. I have about 10 other projects lined up ready to go and a bunch more I want to purchase!
I grew up on a farm in Minnesota and my mother taught me how to embroider flour sack towels with days of the week designs on them when I was about 10. I did about 10 sets of those and then started on stamped cross stitch samplers. I have the three I did back then framed. Now I have started doing counted cross stitch and love it!
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a bright crafting floor lamp? I just can't seem to find one that I like and it seems like lamps that are for "crafting" are ugly with no style. Any suggestions would be good. Thanks!
Hi Deb! Welcome to the forum from South Carolina! And welcome back to stitching. Sounds like you are jumping right back into it and we will be glad to help you keep at it. I know that having a good light with a magnifier has made a huge difference for me. I use the Daylight Floor Mag Light. It's pricey but I bought it at one of the big Craft Stores with a 40% off coupon which helps. OttLites are a real favorite for many in our forum. A search on the forum for Craft Lamps or OttLites will probably result in many threads to read. Getting the right light is so important.
I hope that you will post pictures of your projects as your stitch them. We love pictures. What are some of the projects that you have kitted up and are ready to start?

Hi Deb and Welcome from coolish Brisbane its great to have you along and good on you for coming back to stitching too. I hope you find the right light for you to work with, a good light is so needful, even up here in the sub tropics.
Looking forward to seeing your projects as they grow.

I have the same Daylight lamp Carole mentioned; I got it at Amazon for around $60. The stores around me only carrry Otts and the Daylight got really good reviews both here and on other sites I checked. I love it!

As for crafty lights, I have the Marietta Ott Light
Ott has a couple styles that look more like over the shoulder reading lamps
than long tube, science lab looking light fixtures.
Some sold as a set with matching floor and table lamps
