Scroll frame newbie: how do you set these things up?!
Happy Sunday, stitchers! I mooched a set of scroll rods to play around with for a big sampler, which has been a comedy of errors experience. Pretty sure these are American Dream, but not the basting, nor the no-basting tape kind. Bare rod, qsnap type clamp for the dowels, and the usual end pieces. She uses grippy (maybe shelf liner?) material. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the fabric on so I can just move down the piece.

Hi,
I think you clamp the ends of the fabric on the bars and use the knobs to scroll the fabric to the area you want to stitch. The shelf liner is probably there to make the fabric more taut, so you would place them on top of the fabric and clamp down on both the liner and fabric.
Good luck! I hope it works for you.

They don't look like American Dream Products -- at least not any I'm familiar with. My guess based on what I can see in the picture would be to use the clamps to hold the ends of the fabric on the rods and then turn the rod to wind the fabric around it. When you get the fabric wound on both rods and the area you want to stitch is between the rods, tighten the knobs on one rod. Roll the other rod until the fabric tension is taut and hold it while you tighten its knobs.
