beaded kits

Post by babyfairie »

So I'm making up my Christmas wish list so my friends have stuff to pick from to get me since they all know how much cross stitch has helped keep me out of the hospital and helped my mental health so much....anyway i keep running across these adorable beaded kits, and they are so cute, but I'm wondering how hard is beading to do?

like say something like this:

it looks really intricate and i love it but i'm still brand new to cross stitch itself so don't want to get something too complicated--anyone ever done something like this can give me an idea how tedious it might be?

Beading isn't difficult at all. If you know how to cross stitch than the beads are a breeze!

You bring your needle up where you would normally start a stitch, slip a bead onto your needle and go down the diagonal hole to complete a half stitch and that's it :D

I am a bead lover when it comes to patterns. Some aren't though. It just adds another texture to the piece :)

I agree with LastingAllure---just need to make sure you have a proper size needle, which I think should come with the bead kits---just remember, one stitch at a time :) The hardest thing with these kits, to me, is that you can't use a hoop---and you do have to be a wee bit more careful, as it is perforated paper(strong)

The MH kits are a snap to stitch up! Some of them are all beads and some are a blend of beading and stitching. All are on perforated paper, which is a bit odd to work with at first. One thing I learned very quickly is to not use a beading needle! Those long, bendy things just don't work for me. Instead, I use a quilting sharp--the tiniest one I can find. If you go this route, it's much easier to hold on to and navigate between other beading or stitching row. Be careful, as the point is super sharp and will stick both you and your paper equally!
