Saying hello!

Post by JenJ1978 »

Introducing myself. I'm Jen. I'm in my mid-30's, single, no kids. I learned cross stitch from my mother when I was about 11, and I have friends from high school who happen to be cross-stitchers. My aunt on my dad's side is a cross stitcher as well.

I didn't stitch for a long while while I did things like work multiple jobs and go to school. My other crafty love is quilting. My life calmed down about 5 years ago, and I had free time again. I did a bit of cross stitch while traveling (of the 5x7 kits on Aida variety), but not steadily. Now I've been getting back into cross stitch, starting with finishing some of my UFO's.

My only camera is part of my dumbphone and takes horrible pictures so I don't know that I will be able to provide many pictures.

Current projects include this one (link to pattern picture): http://www.crossstitchworld.com/cross-s ... ordID=6933" target="_blank which just needs the backstitching and knots and wording (but I want to change the wording).

I can't find a picture of the other one, but it's a Joan Elliott design called "Last Minute" with a woman working in an office.

I have a third one, flowers in a vase. I think it was an old Dimensions Gold Petite kit? I'm not sure I have the eyesight for 18 count Aida any more though. :)

Hello from Colorado and welcome to the forum. Very pretty design! As for eyesight possibly not being good enough for 18 count, invest in a good magnifier and light and I bet you'll be fine. Many of us use them so we can work on higher count fabrics.

 Hello and welcome from South Carolina! Your projects sound interesting. I would repeat what Debby said about good magnifiers and light for being able to stitch on higher count fabrics. There are daylight magnifiers which provide both. I was surprised to find how amazing they can be. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hello and welcome from Western Australia! The projects you've got on the go sound lovely. Good luck with the backstitching what are you planning to change the words to? I'm curious now :)

Forgot to say where I'm from - I live in the USA, near Philadelphia.

I don't know what I want to change the words to, I'm just not thrilled about the words that are there! I bought it knowing that I liked the picture and might change the words. Suggestions welcome. Snarky is fine but profanity isn't - I was thinking about it for the office and I'd like people to lean in to read it and then smirk. Something relating to the autumn would work too. I could be nice and just go with "I'd rather be there than here" but I was hoping for something more cutting.

(I have made "Bite Me" from Subversive Cross Stitch for one coworker, and one for another coworker that says "I can only please one person per day, Today is not your day! Tomorrow is not looking good either" - but I don't have any of my own at work. The 2nd one I mentioned in my post above is intended for the office, it says "If it were not for the last minute, nothing would ever get done.").
