I did one stamped cross stitch in the '70's and it was hard for me to make consistant stitches.

I found one which was printed on a a calico type fabric. I had to use a sharp needle..ouch  ...and I couldn't keep the stitches even either. 'Fraid it's been consigned to the Back of the UFO Drawer!

Having said all that, and probably put you right off....Go for it! The fabric that yours is printed on looks to have a definable weave, mine didn't!

I know you will do fine, Rosie!

I dug my piece out of the box it resides in. It looks much better than I remembered. The fabric appears to be a muslin in white, somewhat coarse. The x's appear to be more or less over 3. One funny thing though, I used all 6 plies of thread! I don't know what the chart called for but I had plenty of floss. Considering that the stitches appear slightly larger than the ones on 14 count, it may have called for that.

So I got the kit one week ago today... Here is the progress so far. I'm quite pleased with it (if I do say so myself)

Thanks again for all the kind comments, hopefully I can keep it up! The next thing I need to do is hem round the outside so it doesn't carry on fraying, but I need to wait til mum goes out so that I can use the sewing machine without her getting suspicious!

You are making good progress with this interesting design. It is a lot of fun seeing the design come together and will look beautiful on the wall of your mothers sewing room. A lovely updaate.

That's lovely, you are doing very well. Interesting to see each little bit of the design come to life. An unusual subject & good to see something different. Your mum will be sooo delighted with it when finished. Hope you get to sew edges round as I did not do that on Faith & it is fraying a bit. Will remember to do that on my next project though. Look forward to next update :D
