New Guy Saying Hi!

Post by biscuitsandgravy »

Hello! I'm Joe and I'm so happy I found this forum!

I've stitched off and on (mostly off) since my Mom let me try one of her simple counted kits when I was a kid and I've always enjoyed the process of stitching and have recently gotten the itch again. More than just stitching a few things this time around, I find myself very interested in all the resources available online to learn advanced techniques and tricks, creating your own patterns and the awesome community of crafters all sharing information and positive energy.

What piqued my interest recently was stumbling across some funny "subversive" cross stitch (I'm a sucker for pretty-looking dirty words and toilet humor I guess) and video game related stitching and all the resources out there for "pixel art" in general. I'm feeling nostalgic lately for my 1980's childhood :D

I can't wait to pour through the forum and get to meet you all. Looks like a super group and some amazing reading!

P.S. my username Biscuits and Gravy does refer to my love of the breakfast staple and are also the names of our two cats. My wife volunteers for a cat adoption organization and these brothers were rescued from a shelter as kittens and I instantly fell in love and insisted we keep them. That was 10 months ago and they just turned 1 year old today!

Hello, Joe. Welcome. I hope you'll share pictures of your projects.

Those cats are very cute.

Hello from a former Californian (Orange County) now living in Colorado, and welcome to the forum. It sounds like you're going to fit right in here. There are several members who share you interests, and there are several guys here - and lots of cat and animal lovers.

Are you a one project at a time stitcher or do you usually have two or more going? I was a one at a time until I joined the forum.

I am the victim of acquiring a cat too. Over the years it has led to us breaking out in chronic cats, and we seem to have four. Though at times I'm sure there are 8, particularly feeding time.

Hope you have fun here and with the fleabags.

Regards,

Richard.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I am definitely a one item at a time stitcher and I've only tackled small projects thus far. That may change as I continue to learn and grow and I've already started stocking up on fabric, floss and other supplies like never before so the opportunity to start more than one project is there. I'm looking forward to documenting my work and adding to my signature line!

We've got 3 cats, an old grumpy guy my wife has had for 8+ years and our two new "breakfast brothers". We are fostering two adult rescues in our guest room right now which has been a trend since the wife spends a lot of time working to get cats adopted. We have set a hard limit on the cats we have now, at least until we figure out where kids will fit in the picture. It is nice to have the extra room to help foster for a week or two here and there. I was never a cat person but I sure am now!

 Hello and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! There is no doubt in my mind that you are going to fit right in with the rest of us.
Be warned that your increasing stash may start to get ever bigger as we have a tendency to encourage new projects, new fabrics and threads and techniques. I was also a one at a time stitcher until I joined the forum and discovered I wouldnt be arrested if I started one before finishing the current project. As you can see from my signature, I might have gone a bit overboard, but I enjoy my stitching even more. I hope that you will post pictures of your projects and of your kitties. We love pictures! Looking forward to getting to know you,

Carole

Welcome from the Mississippi Gulf Coast! I am also a one-at-a-time stitcher and I prefer large projects. Years ago I had multiple projects going at once, but it made me feel scatterbrained so I just do one to completion now. There are plenty of folks here that do large projects, so when you decide to go for it, you'll have lots of support. :)
