Nope, at home, I just have a high-wattage light and I put the frame about four inches from my nose, where I look over the top of my glasses to see properly. This is what happens when you get to your late 40s--lots of light needed, and glasses being not helpful at all.
I bought the magnifying headlamp to use when on the road, so this will be my first time trying it out. I've seen something like it on Adam Savage in the tv show Mythbusters, so I know that it works on close-up work for aging eyes.
I don't like this piece , I LOVE IT! You are doing a fantastic job of stitching. It is beautiful. I couldn't stitch at all without my magnalite. And another light for my charts if I'm not using my iPad for the charting. Have a lovely vacation. Can't wait for your next update!

I have a slightly better lit photo of the whole thing as of this morning here:
Here is the close up on the more recent bits:
I didn't get as much done on vacation as I would have liked, but we did have fun in the Finger Lakes! I highly recommend going there for a few days--we had great fun going to wineries, pottery shops, and even a sunset cruise aboard the schooner seen in the Bing Crosby/Grace Kelly film High Society.

My goal is to finish off this page and the next by the end of October (I'm taking the final week of the month off from work to use up some vacation time, so I'll have some stitching time available then!), and then I'll probably take a bit of a break from this to work on the stash of ornament kits I just ordered for Christmas gifts! There's about 12 kits, so I'll be busy for most of the month of November. (I'll be posting the pic of those over in the stash acquisition thread when they arrive in the mail.)
ETA: CarrieGF, I was just in Wicklow last October with my mom! We loved it, especially the Powerscourt Gardens near Enniskerry and then our drive down to Glendalough (which was waaaaay too busy with the Saturday crowds, so we turned around and just drove back to our B&B in town). We went to the Avoca Weavers factory as well as their big store, but we preferred the factory with the tour. I love the bag I bought there (http://www.avoca.com/home/products/?mid ... 7&pid=1859).

Love this project and enjoy seeing the progress pictures. It still seems you are on pace for your 18 months to complete (even though it might not feel like it to you). Keep up the great work.
